V2I (vehicle-to-infrastructure) is wireless communication between a moving vehicle and the roadway infrastructure. V2I communications may alert traffic signals or bridges that the vehicle is approaching. Conversely, the infrastructure may warn approaching vehicles of an impending traffic flow change or that pedestrians are crossing a roadway. See also V2G, V2Gov, V2X, VGI, and V2V.
