A Type 2 connector is a European Commission standard EV charging connector, also known as “Mennekes,” capable of delivering up to 300 amps of current at 480 volts. There are both AC and DC versions of this connector. The Type 2 connector is incompatible with the SAE J1772 standard used in the United States. Type 2 has been released in the United States as SAE J3068 but is not widely used.
