Much less common in automobiles than heated seats in the front, rear heated seats are an option usually reserved for higher trim levels on vehicle models. The controls for the rear heated seats are accessible to the backseat passengers, activating electric heating coils embedded in the seat backs and seating cushions. See also cooled seats.
