A lithium-metal battery is any battery with metallic lithium (Li) as the anode (negative pole) material. Lithium-metal batteries have a high energy density and long life but are not generally rechargeable. Typical uses for lithium-metal batteries are flat watch batteries, AA and AAA cells, and 9-volt batteries. See also Lithium-ion battery.
