What Is an In-Car PA System?

2019 Honda Pilot Elite app-screen with CabinTalk.

An in-car PA (personal address) system is a feature that allows drivers to communicate with rear passengers via onboard speakers or headphones. In-car PA systems are typically available in minivans, 3-row SUVs, and other large vehicles preferred by buyers with large families. Parents can use these communication systems to talk to their children without taking their eyes off the road while driving. However, it is helpful to anyone in the front seat trying to communicate to the back of the cabin.

In-car PA systems often pair with rear-seat cameras that keep an eye on little ones, which may not be visible behind other passengers or seats. The camera feeds to a monitor up front, allowing drivers to remain facing forward.
