Flex Fuel is the trade name for a mixture of up to 85% ethanol and gasoline. The mixture is also known as E85. Vehicles running on Flex Fuel can also run on lower ethanol or pure gasoline concentrations. Engineers have created Flex Fuel Vehicles to run on the increased ethanol content without sustaining engine or fuel system damage.
