Positive Review
The cars interior is hands down the best! Comfort and quality! have had to replace some parts and have found it easy to work on but with 294000 miles will keep driving until it becomes unpractible would recommend to anyone who appreciates the best . The 2.5 runs hard and can pass anything with ease and get 24 mpg not to mention the safety ratings what's not to like. 50 year old male 100,000 a year salary and have owned for 4 years at 25,000 miles ayear
Critical Review
I have owned volvos for 40 years and have always driven them for well over 125K miles and at one point had three in the family. This XC70 will be my last I am sorry to say---The electronics have been a complete failure---ABS system failed--ignition lock had to be replaced, gear box failed, alarm system failed. W2

The car has been meticulously maintained and maintenance records are available. It is still going strong. It has a lot of room. Leather seats. 218,600 miles on it and it has never failed us. It is beautiful still. I bought it off lease because they stopped making the cross country and I loved it. I still love it and am ambivalent about selling it.
flawless blue paint with tan leather
only the high mileage.
I'd like to state that my Volvo looks like it came off the showroom floor. There are no rips, breakage, dents or rust. I replaced the transmission last year. It also comes with four, nearly new, mounted snow tires. It's the Cross Country model and has four wheel drive on demand. A fellow Volvo enthusiast would have no problem with the high mileage, but a common viewer would probably collapse.
Go anywhere do anything
Costly repair
I use this car for everything from camping, hunting, light off-road trails, towing small trailers and boats to fetching groceries with the wife. Tons of space, plenty of get up and go when you need it. Only downside is repair cost and pack of aftermarket parts. Otherwise it's a great car and way more capable than I would of ever imagined.
It’s been an excellent car

A very nice car for its age. Interior not as clean as some. Leather interior. Dark blue, tan leather interior.
Smooth ride, sporty, roomy for wagon, safe
Oil leaks, gas mileage, turning radius
I've owned all kinds of cars over the years, but the 2004 Volvo XC70 was my favorite so far. The only reason I sold mine was because I was moving out of state and couldn't take two cars with me. I bought my XC70 used for $500 and it was the best deal ever. New tires and a tune up and the thing drove like a dream, even with 230000 miles on it. I'm sure the previous owners had not kept the car up well, it leaked oil like crazy. Other than that, though, it was top-notch. I had it for a year or so. Now I'm looking for another one. I've had so many cars with far less mileage on them that have caused me much more trouble. These Volvo XCs are legendary and you will find so many long-term owners who rave about them. If you can do most repairs/maintenance yourself, it's affordable.
Mine has 293k miles ive used synthetic oil (every 3k to 5k miles) since new, easy access to ignition coils, plugs, timing belt etc..saves cuz i do my own tuneups. Other than a window control going bad and a Sway bar replaced (@227k miles) this car has only needed regular PMs done to keep it going strong, A/C, heater have never failed, i drive majority in town (City), have driven in CO. Mountains, great winter car in town.
Roomy
failing components, complicated to maintain
Volvo tauts reliability and safety. I bought this car recently with 110k. I knew the previous owner and so i know the car was well maintained. Reliability is questionable bc I believe the car is over-engineered. Some components are failing like the door lock actuators. The actuators ate motorized with gears instead of solenoids that many cars use. One actuator has failed and the dealer wants 600 to replace it. The positive control ventilation (PCV) system is too complicated that if it fails you will have catastrophic engine damage. The electrical monitoring system is too comprehensive that it alerts you of too many things to the point of annoyance. Also, the auto lock feature has a tendency to lock the car when you step out while the engine is running thus locking you out - a safety issue to me. I am used to my reliable Hondas that are simple to maintain and drive much better.
The 2006 and 2007 xc70 crossover are the best two years Volvo ever made cars! Very dependable. Keep your oil changed every 3K miles, change your timing belt ever 85K and this car will last you forever!
