Positive Review
Traded a 2012 XC60 for 2018 V-90 Cross Country. Drove it for about 1000 miles and returned it to dealer for a 2017 XC60 demonstrator with Certified Warranty. Got hosed financially in the deal, and dont even care. Love the 2017 XC60. Hated the 2018 V-90. Electronics were unreliable. Nav system would sometimes not load up, but would give circle of death loading sign until I shut everything down and started over. Would accept destinations, but then forget and make me reenter everything. Warning for lane changes on multi-lane highways were provided too late to actually make lane changes safely. Categories for search were not tuned to American driving and needs. Large screen was mostly a video-game-like distraction from actually driving the car. Radio would come on mysteriously after just opening driver side door to put groceries or brief case into car, but not starting it up. Various apps, especially Weather,Pandora, and Sirius would not load or would load and then fail to function--again until stopping car and starting all over again. (Sometimes even this would not fix the problems.) Stop/start override function for the engine when at stop lights or at rest required several different screens to operate. In the XC60 a simple push of one button on the console does the trick. Stop/start is dumb in any case. Should be a one-time choice of owner/driver, not something you have to select every time you operate the car. Repeated use of starter motor makes no sense at all. It also results in lag while system restarts that is annoying as can be. My 2017 XC60 is a fine car and allows the driver to actually drive without lots of IT and other distractions. Just drove it from CT to California and love it. It is likely to be my very last Volvo.
Critical Review
I previously owned a Volvo station wagon (740). The previous body style was smaller making it easier to park and maneuver. My new 2021 Volvo V90 station wagon is large (195” long and 76” wide). I bought the 2021 Inscription T6 Cross-country V90, the MSRP was $65,000. For a large car this size I would normally expect a smoother ride, road imperfections are readily felt by driver and passenger. Due to the length of this car, it is not easily maneuvered making it harder to park. I would have expected the interior to be quieter and more insulated from the noise of the outside world and the road. The car is in between a sedan and a SUV (it is lower than a SUV making it easier to get into and out of, but higher than the comparable sedan making harder to to get into and out of than a sedan). For the price of the car, I would have expected softer, higher quality interior components (on the top of the doors, on top of the dash, on the console and the console covering, on the finish around the cargo area. Also, the leather seats for $65,000 should be made of a higher quality softer grain leather. For the price of this car the doors should have been covered in high grade leather and the dash as well). I have only had my car for 2 1/2 months and driven 800 miles.

Classy look with a durable, safe feel.
Premium gas, no hybrid, brakes were touchy and transmission lagged at low speeds when braking.
Feel like an extra pair of eyes are working for you in this ride. The safety features alone make this an awesome ride for a family. If you have a large dog this vehicle is awesome with plenty of cargo space. The rear lift opens fully and still doesn't hit my open garage door! Roomy and comfy. Engine take off is superb, braking at lower speed has some transmission drag, but leveled off after 10,000 miles. Brakes are stiff at first due to mild hybrid, but got used to it. Interior lighting is classy, warm, and calming. Some European touches that seem odd and adjustable lighting would be nice. Overall, pretty happy.
Seat comfort, fit and finish
Four cylinder, ride comfort could be better! Lose
I have had this car for a year. A loaded luxury version. T6. Mileage is about 27-28 highway. Power is great from standstill and up to 60 or so. Passing power at 70 or so is weak. But, this 2.0 four cylinder makes 316hp and is certainly adequate. My other car is an S560 Mercedes so I am comparing to a high benchmark. The V90CC does so many things so well. With good winter tires it is a snow beast. The seats with massage, heat and cool are phenomenal. Excellent cargo capacity, rear seat legroom is way way better than the V60. Pilot assist is wonderful. I drive through Boston traffic without ever touching brake or gas pedal, takes all the pucker moments out of traffic. I bought used with 19k miles. A great car I will be keeping for a long time!
There really is not a lot on the market like this little beast. Smooth (with 19" wheels, 20's have thin tires and make for a harsher ride), refined and elegant. Interior is subjectively the best designed interior out there, very well put together. The designers did a fantastic job with this vehicle. The engine is no seat of the pants thrill (turbo 6 would have been better), but is smooth, and the transmission shifts very well, never searching for gears. The manual mode is not great, this car was made for leaving it in auto. This car is perfect for its intended purpose, cruising around, it is very relaxing to drive. It is wonderful on long road trips. It is a shame the regular V90 leaves our shores, it looks much better than its Cross Country sibling.
Exceptionally comfortable seats, responsive engine
harsher ride then expected on irregular surfaces
After 2 years and 16K miles of owning my 2020 V90 Inscription T6 AWD wagon, the car has been mechanically trouble free. Only problem was a blind spot monitoring system issue that was easily addressed with a software update. With its 4 cylinder/turbo/supercharged engine, on premium gas, 22-24 city mpg and 29-31 highway mpg. Car's design turns heads. Numerous times, people have approached my car to marvel at it. Superb for long-distance travel. Volvo has somehow created seats that get more comfortable the longer one travels. After numerous 5+ hour trips in New England, I can attest to its front seat comfort. Rear storage space, while adequate, is a bit compromised by the severe slope of the rear hatch.
Really best car It has almost every feature with good quality No need to suv Safety is perfect Including everything you need
Solid, quiet, comfortable.
Price, Cockpit Storage, premium fuel
We've had several Volvo's over the years but got away from them for a bit. Glad to be back! The V60 Cross Country is very refreshing in the land of SUVs with it's distinctive styling and good looks. Best seats in the industry, solid driving, good engine performance, and it is quiet. Sensus control has a learning curve and isn't overly intuitive, but once you have it is pretty good. Cockpit storage is lacking, but that's a minor complaint. Biggest complaint is premium fuel.
Stylish-Good looking-Powerful-Good Excelleration
Large, interior not as elegant as competitors

Great touring car! Comfortable and responsive.
Some may not like the car's lower stance.
Excellent long-distance touring car. Extremely comfortable seats. Driver assistance features (e.g., dynamic cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, emergency stopping, etc.) on-par with the best. The T6 model's turbo/supercharger system offers excellent and responsive engine performance. Mileage, after 2000 miles of driving, corresponds with the window sticker's EPA estimates of 31 highway, while my city mpg is 24 versus EPA's 21, all with 91+ octane fuel (as required). Interior and exterior material quality and fit-and-finish is excellent. First 3 years of routine maintenance included, along with non-run-flat tires, which are typically longer lasting and less costly to replace, versus run-flat tires now found on the V90's competitor vehicles. People have stopped to marvel at the car, take pictures and ask about it. The V90 Inscription is rarer than a Ferrarri in the USA. Would definitely buy this car again. With all this said, no car is perfect. Its closest competitors (i.e., Benz E450 Estate Wagon and Audi A6 All-Road), offer V6 engines vs Volvo's 4 cylinder, with comparable or slightly better fuel mileage and more power. It should be noted that the V90's competitors are priced far higher than the V90. Lastly, the V90's 15 gallon fuel tank is fairly small, in comparison.
