The spacious and comfortable 2024 Volvo V60 is a unique wagon with distinct styling, standard AWD, and a sporty plug-in hybrid option. Pricing starts at $50,845.
While much of the luxury car world has prioritized SUVs, Volvo is one brand that hasn’t given up on wagons. The Volvo V60 is the Scandinavian marque’s smaller and more affordable wagon option, and it has two distinct variants in its model range. The Cross Country model is the more rugged choice with an adventurous aesthetic and generous ground clearance, while the plug-in hybrid Polestar Engineered model is both sportier and more efficient. Every V60 boasts standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and many safety features, bolstering its case as a practical luxury wagon.
The closest rival to the V60 in the small world of luxury wagons is the Audi A4 Allroad.
A new Vapour Gray paint option is available for the V60 this year. Also, all metallic paint options are now available at no extra cost. More standard features for 2024 include a power liftgate and an air purifier.
The 2024 Volvo V60 has a starting sticker price of $50,845, with the range-topping V60 T8 Polestar Engineered Recharge Plug-In Hybrid kicking off at $72,345. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $3,455 to $3,936 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

Before buying a V60, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Volvo V60 resale value is well below average for the segment.
The 2024 Volvo V60 is powered by a 247-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Volvo calls this the B5 powertrain. It delivers reasonably quick acceleration, but its performance is just okay compared to the quicker Audi A4 Allroad or even the optional turbo engine in the Subaru Outback.
The T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain is a different story. The hybrid Polestar Engineered model is turbocharged, supercharged, and electrified with a total output of 455 horsepower. All-wheel drive still comes standard, and improved brakes and suspension further enhance the drive. The enthusiast in us strongly prefers this powertrain. Still, the significant cost difference between the Cross Country and Polestar Engineered models makes the base engine a better buy for most drivers.
As for ride quality, the Volvo V60 is smooth and comfy. The Cross Country model prioritizes comfort over sporty agility, and its 8.3 inches of ground clearance make it suitable for moderate off-roading duties.
The Volvo V60 achieves a combined fuel economy rating of 27 mpg with the Cross Country model. That’s one mpg better than its closest rival, the Audi A4 Allroad. The plug-in hybrid Polestar Engineered model is more efficient than the Cross Country. It’s rated to travel 41 miles on electricity alone, after which it delivers an average of 31 mpg in gas-electric hybrid mode. According to EPA estimates, the hybrid can save almost $100 per month in fuel/electricity costs compared to the Cross Country. More V60 fuel economy information is available on the EPA’s website.
The cabin of the Volvo V60 is roomy and upscale. It has a unique design, nice materials, and some of the most comfortable seats we’ve tested in this class. The infotainment system has a bit of a learning curve, but we found it pretty intuitive once we got used to it. We love the built-in Google Maps app, giving it an excellent onboard navigation system.
We were pretty comfortable when we climbed into the back seats of the V60. It has 35.2 inches of rear legroom, which is only a half-inch less than the Audi A4 Allroad.
The V60 has 18.3 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats, which is almost 60% more cargo volume than the trunk of the Volvo S60 sedan. However, it’s worth noting that the Audi A4 Allroad boasts a 24.2 cubic-foot cargo hold.
The unique Scandinavian styling of the Volvo V60 makes it stand out. The Cross Country model has a rugged aesthetic with tall ground clearance and plastic cladding, while the Polestar Engineered model has a sportier look with a lower stance.
Rugged Cross Country model
The V60 Cross Country has a rugged appearance package, standard AWD, and 8.3 inches of ground clearance, giving it off-road chops you can’t get from a traditional luxury sedan.
Sporty Polestar Engineered model
The exciting Polestar Engineered model is a sporty wagon with a high-performance plug-in hybrid powertrain making 455 horsepower. Other performance upgrades include a sport suspension system with Öhlins dampers and Brembo front brakes with gold calipers.
Wagon body
The Volvo V60 has a wagon body yielding a spacious interior with much more cargo room than the similar S60 sedan. That makes the versatile V60 an interesting alternative to a mainstream SUV.
Standard AWD
Every Volvo V60 comes standard with all-wheel drive, giving it excellent all-season traction on snowy roads.
Google-based infotainment system
The Google-based infotainment system in the V60 is feature-rich and easy to use. Google Maps is built in, which is one of our favorite navigation systems. It also comes with Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, and four USB-C ports.
Pilot Assist
The Pilot Assist driver assistance system is standard in the V60. This semi-autonomous driving system combines features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping aid, and road sign information to make highway driving nearly effortless.
Power for the V60 Cross Country comes from the B5 powertrain, a turbo 4-cylinder engine with 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The performance of this engine is adequate, but it’s hard not to compare it to the turbo engine in the Audi A4 Allroad, with more power and torque at a lower starting price.
The more exciting T8 powertrain in the Polestar Engineered model is turbocharged, supercharged, and electrified. The total output is 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque, giving it a significant boost in performance compared to the Cross Country. It has a 41-mile all-electric range, then gets 31 combined mpg when operating as a hybrid.
All-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission are standard on every V60.
The Volvo V60 is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. That’s about typical for a European luxury car, but you also get a generous 3-year/36,000-mile complimentary maintenance plan. The plug-in hybrid model comes with an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on hybrid components.
The Volvo V60 lives up to its brand’s reputation for safety, with a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the top “Good” score in every crashworthiness category from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
It comes standard with the Pilot Assist system, which bundles safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping aid, and road sign information. Additional standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, road sign information, and a driver attention monitor.
The 2024 Volvo V60 is in the middle 26-75% for Cost to Own among all Luxury Compact SUV/Crossovers.
