Positive Review
The S90 is Volvo's entry in the large luxury import segment at a pricepoint well under the competition. It's built on a Volvo univeral platform and uses a corporate wide 4 cyl. engine either turbocharged or turbo AND supercharged. The lack of model specific powertrains and chassis probably allows them to undercut the segment pricepoint. That said, the result is a plush, quality sedan with simple. elegant styling that most find compelling. After initial ride issues corrected by replacing all the Pirelli tires which were not quite round and not quite balancable, my Volvo has been without issues. The first 4 years of all service is standard. It's a luxury import that is a little exclusive, yet not showly. Fly happily under tha radar!
Critical Review
Positives first...it's always the best or one of the best looking cars in any given parking lot in the Mussel Blue color. The fit and finish is great and it gets more nods and "nice car" moments than I care to document. The acceleration is decent for a car this size, and the sound system is one of the best on the market. The bad...Many basic things were poorly thought out. Though the interior is very nice looking, it's not designed to be used by real drivers. The infotainment system is not great at all. The HUD is worthless compared to the competition. The ride quality is only OK. Considering the cost and segment, this should be addressed. A larger displacement engine would do wonders for the car. Maybe a 2.5L dual charged car that delivers 350+ HP for the same price. And last, but certainly not least, I'm far too familiar with the service department. Between minor and major issues, this car has been annoying. Luckily, it's a lease. I won't be getting another Volvo when it ends for whatever that's worth. I test drove a Kia Stinger and am far more impressed with that car which is $20K cheaper than the S90.

I signed up to Autotrader to sell my car because I have used the site in the past and found it useful. It was a different experience this time, with every 'private seller' who contacted me actually someone who was trying to get me to buy their version of a VIN report. Four different sellers did this, each with different VIN reports they "required because they'd been burned before and their insurance company recommended this particular report as the most thorough." The response was almost verbatim each time. I did find a buyer through Autotrader though, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
Sound system is awesome, ride is smooth !
Rear shocks needed replacing at 5 years
I have been an owner of many vehicles including multiple Mercedes. This car is a great value for the money. Tons of options and unparalleled safety. While most might say this completes with an S Class I would say that it is more of an E class size but with way more options. The app is excellent and the Bowers sound system is a must!
Great looking and smooth ride and handling.
Fast but not superpowerful
I have had two S90’s and love the features, ride and gas mileage. It has a very large and comfortable back seat. Have had zero issues. I highly recommend!
Great interior. Great looks. Even great mileage for its size. Not a sports car but an extremely comfortable place to spend long hours on the road.
Super comfortable cruising vehicle
Can be hard to find
This is the most dependable, comfortable and economical car I have ever owned. Extreme comfort and performance for a sedan. Cruises on the the highway with approximately 30mpg. I feel very safe in this vehicle.
The vehicle is beautiful, great lines and design outside. Head lights turn head when pass by. The interior is simple, elegant, functional, advanced and luxurious. The seat are extremely comfortable, touch screen, 360° camera, assisting parking, safety cameras when driving that with assisting breaking and much more... drive test it, love it and buy it!
Massive back seat space. Rare. Quick. Perfect for
Harsh ride on side streets
I purchased a 2020 Volvo V60 momentum (wanted the city weave interior) for my wife. Love everything about it except the T5 power and shifts. I seen new S90 Rdesign T8 pop up and decided to test drive it. The electric moter takes out the poor shifts that I dont like in the T5- completly. I work 28 miles from home and uses about .3 to .5 gal. Per day round trip by also charging at work which is awesome given its power. I traded in my 2019 Eclass 450 that I owned 1 year. No complaints about it but they are EVERYWHERE. Rarely do i see an S90 specifically an R design T8. I get complimants everywhere. No one noticed the Eclass. Only complaint is the ride quality. I will likely keep it until the Polestar Precept comes out or a complete redesign of the s90. Love it!
Joy to Drive - Abundant Standard Features
Engine only noisy with hard acceleration
This is my first Volvo and have to say that it has been one of the most dependable vehicles I have owned. It is extremely comfortable and handles nicely. The many safety features are astounding but that's what Volvo is all about. It's not perfect but for as many cars I have owned and driven this is my favorite and I enjoy looking at it's beautiful styling and it's many features. Perhaps there is better out there and I'm sure there are many but this car "rocks" and I cannot see any alternatives out there that would surpass this choice. It's not a rocker but it has plenty of power for my needs and a great reason to own.
