What Owners are Saying About the 1999 Volvo S70
"Out did the Energizer bunny!"
"We've had our 99 S70 AWD for 10 years and have over 265,000 miles on it. Other than a few electronic problems in the early years, this car has been phenomenal. I'm now getting it ready to sell and in taking a hard look at the car while cleaning it up has reminded me of the great features it has and how well the seat & fabrics have lasted. Even realized today that the steering wheel telescopes!! Duh!. At 200,000 miles Volvo did an upgrade on the software so ours now has 205 HP instead of the 195 HP it came with. The engine is still very smooth running and I can go between oil changes without adding oil. Really think I'm going to miss it. It has class, quality, and certainly long term reliability."
"Volvo For Life!"
"I have driven my Volvo S70 for the last seven years and have loved every minute of it! The car's engine provides peaks performance and excels quickly. Even though it is classified as a "sedan," the S70 is extremely stylish, classy - friends who have driven my car consider it a sports car - and since it has four doors, there's plenty of room for people and groceries! Fold the back seats down and you've got plenty of room for a Home Depot shopping spree. My favorite thing that I love about my S70, is when it rains - push the "W" button and off you go! Turn corners at 20 MPH with wet, slick roads and you have become "one with the road" - absolutely no slipping and sliding! I LOVE MY VOLVO! I have now become a "Volvo for Life" driver."
"What a great workhorse of a car!"
"I got this car used in mint condition w/ 40k in 2005 and thought I might have paid too much. Wrong! At first I found it a bit sluggish (my last was an 88 Jetta ... still kicking at 25 years old!). I got used to her temper after a while and I have to say, I adore this car. I gave it to my son for a long commute to work all summer and now that he's back at college I feel as though I've gotten reunited with an old friend. 200k on the odo and though there have been some repairs, I have never felt better about a car. It's super comfortable to drive, solid on the road, and handles extremely well. Everyone in my family calls it the "classic" with a bit of an edge because it's getting up there in years, but I think it genuinely is a classic. Not sure they make them like this any more. We have a Rav4 that is perfectly fine. But that car feels tinny next to my old girl. Yes, I had to switch out the clutch, and I've blown through a few tie rods on back country roads. But she hums and I still find the body in good shape and rather timeless. Great car. I hope I can drive it another 10 years. Only negative is that once I put this through a car wash and the antenna ripped right off. Darned expensive to replace and several after that crumped out, too. Now my mechanic just put a crimp in the rod and so it doesn't retract. Problem solved! And he put that crimp in for free. Sometimes the easiest solution is best."
