Positive Review
PROS: There are too many to single out, but our 2005 VW Touareg has a timeless elegance to it's appearance that often shocks people to know that it's not a newer vehicle. The quality of the leather seats and the shine of the wood grain and chrome accents adds to it's incredibly luxurious interior. It has amazing handling and offers a sturdy drive. The incorporated in-dash cooler help keeping a cool bottled drink on-hand during long road trips, while the "thunk" to each closing door reminds the driver that there is a great level of sound proofing from outside distractions. We've weathered heavy snow and torrential rains with heavy winds in our VW without feeling "vulnerable". The Touareg holds it's own. It never rolls back on hills and proves it's reliability year after year. CONS: For anything worth having, it's worth having to upkeep. Routine maintenance on the Touareg is a little pricey, but with it, the reliability of the Touareg is hands down PRICELESS. OVERALL: There are so many great things to say about the Touareg, but it's performance and reliability outshines them all. Never had a cold morning where my Touareg didn't start. Never had an engine failure. Never been stranded. Never. Reliability and luxury with an amazing drive; anything else is immaterial.
Critical Review
I have owned my Touareg for 3 years, We have had a major transmission rebuild ( which was covered under our extended-warranty ) and major engine work, which was not. I like the size and weight of the car - but it is tough on brakes and tires. The car is over-engineered- meaning simple problems are big problems in a Touareg. Small things break ( for example my parking brake handle ) and I have changed more tail lights and headlights in this car than in any of my three other SUV's combined. It is definitely a high-maintenance vehicle. My advice is to buy and keep an extended warranty on this car.

fun to drive off road, torque,
maintenance, expensive fuel,
I bought used 2009 Touareg 3.0 TDI in 2019. It's still running like fine Swiss watch. If you are car mechanic or familiar with Touareg maintenance then this is will suit for you with your skills. Diesel is better options for long road trip and also good for off road with low range and center locker. Also Touareg are share with Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7 variet parts.

Great VW performance with wheels that keeps it stable and safe. Sport Diff included great take off.
drives like a limo well appointed
difficult to learn all bells and whistles but good
Very classy car every thing you want all bells and whistles all people that ride in it are impressed with the layout and comfort people on the Street stop and look at it and comment on its style
I love everything about this vehicle except the gas mileage, but for as heavy as the vehicle is it gets really good gas mileage. I love the comfort and the features and I haven't had any problems except normal maintenance on a vehicle this age. I'm sad I had to sell, but we needed more seating after our 4th child.
Great steering and power.Highly reliable in winter
Winter tires are expensive.
This is the most reliable car I used. I had no single issue other than the regular maintenance.
Reliable, great styling, roomy, easy to maintain.
None!
Incredibly reliable. Great design and classic styling...still looks terrific after 10+ years! Roomy and very comfortable. I've heard it called the "poor man's Cayenne"...I prefer to think of it as the "smart man's Cayenne".
High quality
It can be costly to have serviced at dealership.
I have owned this vehicle since new and it has been very reliable and without any major issues.
