Positive Review
Before I bought Tiguan 19, I was comparing all suv's. I test drove most of them. Tiguan is way more luxurious and attractive. The only 3 downsides are : 1- bad fuel economy ( 15 mpg in real life) 2- expensive to maintain on the long run. 3- Air condition is not efficient However still the best suv. My Ranking for suvs is 1- WV Tiguan 2- Mazda CX-5 3- Chevy Equinox ( only the 2L turbo engine) 4- Suburu Forester I excluded Honda CRV because of oil dilution problem Nissan Rogue is not reliable
Critical Review
Love the styling on my 2020 Tiguan 2.0T SEL Premium R-Line w/4motion. But it ends there. Within 1 week of ownership (239 miles on odometer) I had to have it towed to VW because of a gas leak so bad, it was unbearable. (initially the dealer denied smelling it) It also has a very pronounced knock in the engine. It spent the next 15 days in the service dept. VW replaced seal on top of fuel tank to correct leak. For the engine issue they started by replacing the torque converter, still had noise. VW replaced transmission, still has noise. Now VW claims knock is "normal" VW Care offered discount to trade for different vehicle or 1 month payment for loss of use. Took payment offer as VW will not eat the depreciation. Engine knock continues to turn heads and is more pronounced than ever and vehicle smelled of fuel again when hatch opened after a fill up the previous day. Now at 1322 miles and every day this vehicle does something to annoy me. My hatred for this vehicle (and now the brand) continues to grow. The MPG on this thing is also very overstated.

Purchased the 2023 Tiguan SE with only 11k miles. This was my first import as I’ve previously only purchased American made cars. (Chevy Cruze, Ford Escape). I am truly a convert! I splurged for the RLine Black trim package and it was worth every penny. Sleek interior design with a panoramic sun/moonroof. Gorgeous interior ambient lighting & chrome accents. Quick start up & acceleration on a cold engine. Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident and my beloved was a total loss. I’m back in the market and plan to purchase the 2024 model because it’s the best quality compact SUV out there for the price. Pros: Enhanced safety features truly work. Front head & side airbags protected me from serious injury during my accident. Premium trim packages give a more contemporary look and feel. Adds the ‘oomph’ this model needs. Easy handling, corners well and is relatively quiet on the freeway. Roomy cargo area when the 3rd row seats are down. Cons: Integrated turn signal mirrors/blind spot indicator lights are distracting while driving on the highway. SE RLine & SEL trim packages are pricey. Driver/passenger seats could be roomier/better ergonomic design needed. Small console. Power lift gates are an add-on option. Awkward handle placement makes the lift gate hard to close manually.
bought a 2024 tiguan se with 8k miles on it and im so happy with it. it feels so luxurious and its zippy! so fun to drive. minor complaint- sos hazard button started going off almost immediately. luckily it happened the day after i bought it and the dealership dealt with all of it for me. VW knew exactly what the issue was and how to fix it.
2017 Tiguan 39,000 miles and needs 8,000 worth of work! I maintained this vehicle and it failed me! Leaking oil ! Not happy at all as you can see I barely drive . Now I have to drive this unsafe car and I’m a single mom with special needs daughter . Thanks a lot Vw!!
The smooth ride and smooth operating cruise control system.
None thus far
I am 41 years old now and have owned only one other Volkswagens a long time ago. In my life now, I’ve purchased several and I mean several new vehicles. This Volkswagen Tiguan is by far the sexiest SUV on the market. Best Bang for your buck. This SE Rline Black is so gorgeous. Rides so smooth, adaptive cruise and steering assist works very smooth and as it should, the interior is beautiful. All the interior lighting is sweet. This is truly an amazing machine Volkswagen. I will buy another VW soon.
Drives awesome and still new at 52k
Seats alittle stiff
I love it! Still drives like new at 52k! Very fast and doesn't wear out tires like my 2005 Toureg did. Still have never needed an alignment.
THE most disappointing new vehicle purchase ever. Immediately began getting an SOS error message that renders emergency functions as well as hands free calling and navigation unusable. The dealer couldn't care less that I've had to use vacation days to bring it for repair, which is so far unsuccessful. VW says there is no fix at this time. Cannot recommend this vehicle or VW brand. Very disappointed in my first, and last, VW purchase.
This is my sixth VW but what an incredibly disappointing experience. I have the SEL R-line which, while decently appointed, has two major flaws. First, the throttle lag is so bad that it is dangerous. The car doesn't do anything for 2-3 seconds when I need to pull out into traffic or otherwise rapidly accelerate. Even when accelerating under normal conditions the delay then lurch to acceleration is maddening. The car jerks when accelerating and decelerating. I finally got the VW tech to admit that there is a problem. He said that it is basically a design flaw that VW can't find a fix for. Second, the electronics are a mess. The Travel Assist Warning goes on an off randomly. Supposedly it has something to do with the steering wheel, and VW has ended up having to replace them, but even that doesn't work reportedly. Alerts of other kinds go on and off continuously as well. Go online to the various VW forums. Both of these problems are discussed ad nauseum. This vehicle has issues.
Good all - around vehicle
High initial price
Roomy and comfortable interior..good power and handling..smooth ride and great gas mileage.. A good all - around vehicle for nearly everyone..
