I have had the Routan for a short while and from what I can tell people who own them (like me) really seem to like what the Routan has to offer. The price is right and I got mine about 3 grand less that the T&C with the same equipment. The Routan drives great and best of all looks good. I don't feel like I own a box or the same van everyone else has( H and T). As for quality -- who knows? It may last forever --- plus I have a 100K mile bumper to bumper warranty on it just in case. (cost me nearly nothing to add) I've known plenty of H or T owners who have had nothing but problems!

Don't let the great features fool you this car is a shaking, cheaply-made, is a money pit on wheels. Something is always breaking! I have to keep a running list for when I go in for oil changes (every 4ish months) of all the things that are not working properly, often they can't even fix them! I've never experienced such a poorly manufactured car. whatever you do ... don't buy this car!!!

I bought my 2010 in 2015 from Carmax. For the first 2 weeks they had the van fixing some sensor because it wouldn’t start. It’s been changed at least 3 times. It has had electrical issues since I bought it. It won’t start, the radio and electric in the van constantly glitches, and the driver side lights (taillight, blinker and headlight) constantly blow and need replaced. I also constantly have to get a new battery because of the electrical issues. Super nice to look at but the WORST vehicle I have ever owned.

I bought the car used and put almost as much into it as I paid for it! Coolant still coming out of the overflow, transmission is not shifting properly, there is a bypass wire I'm the tipm which is still acting up. The alarm won't work I can't lock my doors from the driver side, stereo volume goes 0-1 no sound, arm on the trunk fell off, random flash of light on heater controls when car is off and open a door, doesn't like to start when it's cold , random and crazy electrical issues. Most electric issues can probably be attributed to the tipm! Should be recalled!

Everything, complete garbage.
Nothing but a money pit. Stay far away from these and the chrysler town and country(they are the same thing). Riddled with problems from day one when bought used at 32k miles on the dash. Has took me to the cleaners with repairs. I'm fed up with this garbage van. Brakes are horrible unless you put aftermarket drilled and slotted rotors on it. Use factory they warp and are junk after 15k miles. Single piston calipers on a heavy passenger van? Cheap chrysler JUNK. So, after transmission problems, electrical problems, bushing and motor mount problems, engine cooling problems, heater core problems, ignition issues, and radio in dash issues(cuts in and out). My hands are up and it's getting traded in for a TOYOTA. STAY FAR AWAY!!!!

Overall performance of this vehicle is good, motor strong, shifts and performs ok but doesn't hold the road in curves so well. This vehicle does not like gravel as well. Otherwise she will pull a hill or mountain road fine. The issues, for some reason the heater just doesn't work very well, it may have been from a previous owner putting stop leak in it. The big issue may be a manufacturers defect. The previous person mentioned a short, I also have this very same short. All of the dash lights will come on, the windshield wipers will come on, you can't turn this off, adjust the speed, or even turn the radio up or down. The car will continue to drive and if you're lucky it will stop and go back to normal. If it doesn't the radio will cut out shortly after it starts, the speedometer stops working, the dash basically just stops all functions. I've had it do this for days and then just stop with no signs of it at all. I know where the short is unlike the other reviewer. There is some wiring that runs between the two middle row chairs that leads to the back, that wire group that runs next to the driver side middle seat is my problem. If you step on it, it will set it off until you let up. I noticed when I have the third row seats down in the stored position I don't have the problem when the car hits a bump and it decides to go whacky again. Hope this helps

Electrical system problems
I really like the van but have been having electrical problems since day one. I bought it used two years ago and since that time the dash lights and the wipers come on at off at will. Took it to a dealer and they couldn't fix it. I will take it to an electrician one last time before I trade it in. This is my third van two fords and now this. I really like the design the power and the handling but the electrical issues has taken it's toll on my nerves. I think VW/ Chrysler put too may electrical gadgets in the van's design. Also feels like the transmission will go out soon.
This car has had a host of problems from the beginning. 3 transmissions and 124k miles. The first one lasted 105k miles. The 2nd under extended warranty lasted 15k miles just long enough to be out of warranty period. Other than that, electrical issues- the sliding doors if there are problems with the electric locks, WILL NOT OPEN. There is no mechanical way to open them. We had to have them fixed twice! Very disappointed overall. quick acceleration for a minivan, but just such a problem and I thought this would be more VW influence, instead of just a Chrysler with VW badge.
