Positive Review
I am doing this review after owning the 2020 Passat SE for a year, and drove 13k miles. Passat SE comes with so many features this car is fully loaded. It’s a German car built in the USA, you need to pay $40k MORE for a 2020 Mercedes Benz E class with the same option that comes in a 2020 Passat SE, yes the MB comes with a bigger engine and and more comfortable seats, but not the front and rear legroom. The 1st. Thing I have to mention is the automatic braking that saved me from an accident, this feature is the best. I did a 16 hours road trip the seat needs to be little longer to support the leg, front and rear legroom are very comfortable, the adaptive cruise control did a great job the entire trip, and The automatic wiper took care of the rain intensity thru out the trip. The steering is not centered with the driver seat and it took me a long time to get used to it. MPG 45 highway 37 city. The road noise is acceptable, the engine is not bad at all, it’s not a race car but it’s fast. It’s very stable at highway driving. There is only 1 USB data, so you either use your phone for navigation, or for iPod to listen to music, you can’t have both! The brake pedal is little sensitive, so if you have another car to drive beside your Passat do expect to brake hard every time you drive your Passat after the other car, but you will adopt the braking sensitivity without you know it. The remote start button in the key fob is small so if your thump is big you will have a hard time to remote start the engine, if the engine is running with a remote start it will stop if you open the door ( I have a 2019 Jetta it doesn’t do that ). The truth I am very happy with my 2020 Passat and I do recommend it to my friends and family.
Critical Review
This car is not reliable transportation. Too many flaws, and problems. This manufacturer needs to stop making these vehicles.

The vehicle performs now as it did when new. It delivers a comfortable ride and has ample space for passengers and cargo. You do need to check the oil level every three to five weeks, as it tends to be thirty for it.
Great family sedan- roomy, with long range comfort for 4 and with an enormous trunk which easily accommodates the whole family’s suitcases. Cruises quietly at highway speeds, with enough reserve power for passing.
Tons of options and a great value for the money. I would buy this car again and highly recommend it
My '21 Passat SE is a super mid size sedan that I'm enjoying very much. I've driven to Las Vegas and Southern California in the year and a half I've owned the vehicle. (I live in North Bay San Francisco) In both trips the car performed beautifully and attained about 36 miles to the gallon with good acceleration and handling. It was reasonably priced and has held it's value quite well. My only real complaint is it sits low and is not easy to get in and out. But once in it is quite comfortable even on long trips. I'm very pleased with my Passat SE would recommend it to folks looking for a reasonably priced mid size sedan.
Sleek and affordable
slightly underpowered
Great economic vehicle that blends ergonomics and luxury. This vehicle is sharp and clean. The contrasted color (tourmaline blue) is accentuated by a beautiful cream leather interior and a sunroof.
Smooth ride, gas mileage, stylish, reliable
cheap interior plastics
Everything I have experienced with this car over the past year has been great. No issues, good gas mileage, and overall a solid sedan.

Wish there was an option for a V6
A lot of professional reviewers overlooked the passat and I think that's a huge mistake. The passat offers a luxury European car at a price point affordable to most Americans which is totally overlooked by reviewers that only focus on how big the touch screen is and how much horse power it has. Sure the screen is slightly smaller then others but the passats best in class interior looks better because of it. Most other interiors look like bloated cheap plastic messes. Not the passat, everything is Volkswagen quality. The steering wheel and shifter are leather rapped, the plastic doesn't creak or warp when you push it and when you close the door, its completely silent. It also has the most trunk and cabin space out of all the large sedans so you're not squished in like a clown car. You could get more horsepower out of the engine but then you lose put on the 36 mpg fuel economy and in this market that means a whole lot more. 0 to 60 in 6 seconds is more then adequate for public roads anyway and the turbo makes up for most of the power difference. And even though the transmission is a 6 speed it's Japanese quality and extremely smooth. The best part is the ride though. Volkswagen group vehicles have always had the best suspension on the market and this is no different. Excellent ride quality and corners like a dream. Many people worry about up keep with European cars and it's true that parts are more expensive but you pay for what you get. As long as you properly maintain and take care of one of these cars it will last. But if you neglect it it will bite you. These are fantastic cars and everyone I've met with one loves it. You would be insane not to get one before they dissappear.
Fun to drive, handles better than the Accord
None so far.
We are normally Honda people - but wanted something a little different this time and on the advise of my brother in law -who is a big VW guy bought the Passat. So far (knock on wood) glad we did. It much more fun to drive than the accord and has more features than a comparable Accord. Hope we get the same kind of trouble free driving miles as we have with our Honda’s!
