I have had my 2011 Jetta SE 5-Speed for nearly 14 years. I bought in new off the lot and have maintained it for 186k miles. I'll list the items I've had to fix/replace beyond regular maintenance. Headliner, camshaft position sensor (OBDII reader caught this and dealer overlooked the fix for many years, massive pain), air circulation motor, door actuators, camshaft seal/cover. Beyond that the car is great. The biggest pain was the Camshaft Position Sensor issue. It would constantly give Check Engine lights, stall on the highway, and run really rough. I didn't trust myself diagnosing and fixing my car but after many failed attempts at the dealer I deep dove into the internet and found the fix. Since then it ran great.

We have searched our entire province for a replacement starter on a 2013 Jetta and finally had to order one. Despite having the part # and the VIN number we have had two sent that were the wrong ones. They make several types of them for the same make and model, I do not know why but if you require a starter and you find a place that carry’s them i recommend buying two!

I’ve owned the car for a little over a year and a half and at about the 8 month mark the DPF went out on the car, that was a 3500 delete job, now I have another repair needed and it’s to the transmission/differential box, easily the most bs I’ve been through with any car and any repair I do to it now isn’t even worth the value of the car at trade in. I used to really love the car and the overall look/styling of the car is very cool and no doubt fun to drive. But I haven’t caught one break with this thing since owning it

It's a good car, but needs some repairs. It has 130,000 miles and needs new brakes. It steers well and has been running well.

In 2020 after my prior car was totalled i was looking at what was available in VW TDIs (fresh out of recall) or Prius for less than $15K Tho a hatchback or wagon would be nice i was not at all satisfied w the SLOW acceleration of those Prius models. And could not find a VW TDI wagin wo headroom robbing sunroof, thus settled for VWs roomy Jetta sedan It's all I can ask for and has been flawlessly reliable .Tho antigel makes Diesels daily drivers in all but the most severe cold climates if u live in a smaller locale u might want to make sure u have skilled mechanics in addition to the car dealers

Overall I love my Jetta 1.8t. I find its simplistic nature and overall driving dynamics to exactly what I need day to day. The best aspects of this vehicle are excellent handling, smooth ride, and sporty turbo engine that combines excellent fuel economy with a fair amount of power when you need it. I have purchased this car gently used and it has held up with the Florida heat very well and exterior and interior are near mint condition. Only reason I wont give the car 5 stars is due to a small oil burn happening with my turbo that is slightly concerning but I just keep an eye on it and check oil every other week.

Runs great no problems great gas mileage new tires a few dings light colored interior needs an oil change
