Positive Review
I slammed into the back of an 18 wheeler at 75 miles per hour and then another vehicle slammed into the back of mine at 75 miles per hour. My 2008 Volkswagen Jetta had no front end or back end left, but the cabin looked just like it did the day I bought it, other than the airbag being deployed. When people see pictures of my car after the accident they can't believe that I was not injured. Just a scrape on my knee and a busted nose from the airbag, along with some bruising from the seatbelt are the only injuries I received. But one look at the car and I know it could have been so much worse! Thanks Volkswagen for your safety standards.... they really saved my life!
Critical Review
Where to began. The headliner started to come loose after about 2 years. That was going to cost about $1k. Of course, the warranty was done. This car nickeled and dimed for repairs for almost 7 years. Now the transmission is bad and will cost about $4k-$5k to fix. And it is only at 133,000 miles. I say this after driving a 1986 Honda Prelude 295,000. Still driving a 2001 Mit. Montero at 249,000. I had a Datsun 200sx that I drove for about 300,000 before I sold it. I try to drive the wheels off of my cars before I get another. I'm selling the jetta asap. Oh, and I paid the jetta off.

Reliable motor
Wires issues, expensive VW parts
We installed new original VW brake pads and break wear light appeared on the dash (found out that problem was in the wire). Changed the interior light bulbs to LED - not working properly! Light started blinking. Also, we had a wire issue with the rear blinker. Overall car is good, but apparently VW makes the cars that are not easy to maintain and fix.
Made it to darn near 200k miles in this car. Reliable, safe, chunky sounds when you close the doors (if you know you know) if you take care of it it will take care of you
great gas milage, GRT car for the simply LIFE
Overall pwr on gas mtr might be just a bit BETTER
2007 VW JETTA Wolfsburg addition - The same car in the working order in American made is simply NOT as good for y working and yes - Has been a great car for what I had paid & simply having good maintence on any car is very help full again just doing oil changes, brake's front & rear, manual transmission change of OIL, spark plugs etc...but know going to have to change UP some of the front end items! For this car going to be soon have 200.000 miles on it and still going strong. Just some electrical issues is all I have had to deal with. All I can say with this car for changes is > A manual 6 speed transmission and a new clutch every 100K would certainly DO, has plenty of power for regular driving around town and some mountain driving is simply good enough
Got great mileage 47-48 HWY, even with the price of Diesel being taxed to make it super expensive compared to Gasoline, it was still economical. Now that people think electric cars will replace internal combustion engines, they see the limitations of Battery operated vehicles. A friend just replaced her Hybrid Battery after 5 years and spent $5,000.00 not to mention Labor cost. What a shame people vilified a viable reasonable fuel because of false beliefs in Hippie tree hugging propaganda. A friend of mine has to fill up with $25 box of DEF in his Pickup because of the same fear global warming meanwhile kids are being exploited in mines in Africa so we can feel good about clean energy. Humans consume resources and there is No Zero Sum energy. Carbon Neutrality is a well marketed lie to make people feel good. Just like how all our “recycled plastic” went to China then got dumped in the ocean because recycling is another pipe dream. At least Vegans are harmless, unless you count all the pesticides and herbicides to protect crops, Organic has driven the cost of food to where lower classes can’t afford safe food. But we all feel good about being so ecologically conscious. I guess no one really likes the truth because it’s to abrasive and harsh. I guess I’ll buy a electric car so some kid can try to afford clean drinking water in a virgin plastic bottle that will be eaten by fish that I will eat for dinner later. Cheers
Excellent car. I have had this car for 13 years and I have only done a few major repairs. You will get tired of the car before the car gives up on you
Reliable, fast, spacious & fun.

Bought this car back in 2007 with only 21K miles. Needed a car because of my commute to work, since I worked far away (50 miles away) I needed a gas saver. 16 years later since I bought it & almost 280k miles on it, the car still runs great. Never had any major issues just the regular maintainance. My son learned to drive in it and now he takes it to work & school. It's a fun reliable car and I'm glad I kept it. Now I'm searching for another Jetta, manual drive.
Bought this car used at 125k miles 3 years ago. It’s currently at 148k miles and it’s needed quite a bit of maintenance since then. I’ve had a new battery put in, all 4 tires replaced, new front and rear brakes put in twice, engine misfiring maintenance, and now it’s in the shop for a new starter. I know a lot of this maintenance is regular and to be expected but I’ve had multiple occasions where this car has left me stranded and i had to call AAA. It’s a good car but every year or so it completely brakes down and a thousand dollars goes down the drain. I’m trading it in for another used car, I feel like the maintenance isn’t worth it especially since it has a major oil leak and they said it would cost me more than the cars worth. Overall once u have the maintenance done it’s a lively car with great mileage and a smooth ride but just expect to spend about a thousand on it every year.
