Positive Review
1. Overall experience: Solid, tight feeling car with terrific engine and transmissition (2.0Turbo 4 & DSG 6 speed Auto). The 2.0 4 is so good that I am not sure why anybody would spend more for the 3.2L 6. Very quiet with top up, not claustrophobic due to big sunroof, and most wouldn't guess it was a convertible. With top down, it is even more fun. 2. Reliability of roof: Early buyers have had issues with leaking seals ( 5 piece roof means several seals which potentially can lead to problems). However, a terrific product from Dupont called Krytox can be used to maintain the seals and prevent leakage (details on VWvortex Forums). So far, no issues with mine. 3. Has an easy to access, usable back seat. Still, they are best for kids and mine have no complaints. 4. Trunk space with top down is better than expected. If you pack it full, you may need to let the top up to get your baggage out. However, it still has a back seat for extra storage space. No regrets after buying this car, as long as reliability doesn't become an issue.
Critical Review
I've loved almost every minute spent driving this car over the past year of ownership. The top is amazing in its construction and versatility. The 2.0Turbo is robust and fun even with the luxury suspension. The sound system is great but may have had an programming bug early on. I think that driving with the top down in the sun couldn't get much better than in an EOS. However, when it rains, it pours. Early production models in the US had some window sensor issues which caused the window to roll down long after the vehicle was locked. Regular maintenance on the seals is required to keep them from leaking and to prevent wind noise. Finally, I've had some issues with leaks that allow water to collect in the car. The one thing that makes or breaks a convertible is if it can withstand rain and the EOS is coming out all wet.

best convertible
Oil change $$$$$$
You literally cannot even change the oil without taking off a steel under plate with a drill. It is a serious pain and no oil change should ever be this difficult.
Great gas mileage, red, hard top convertible, black leather interior, handles well, great pick up...acceleration with the turbo fuel injection
cute, unique, and cheap to purchase
LOTS of problems and expensive to maintain
my first car and I absoutely loved it! Everyone knows how much i obsess over my lil Eos! I will certainly miss putting the top down and blasting music and screaming the lyrics :( We were definetly duped bought a lemon. I wouldn't recommend bc its pricey to maintan (due to it being discontinued) and its a gamble getting one that's not a lemom lol. Lots of leaking, engine problems (spark plugs, ABS system failing, windows working when opening the door, and finally the catalytic converter was the last straw) Spent around 15K tryna keep it running for the year and a half I had it but I will always love the Eos and anxiously await for VW to bless us with a new fleet of EOS!

Expensive to maintain
Bought in Ohio but from Florida. Had some issues that needed fixed. One thing was the horn which affected the air bag. Expensive to fix 2 small parts and labor $1100. Aside from that fun. Turbo, oh yes your head will go back into the seat when you get on it. Looks like a transformer robot when putting top up and down, people will stare. Really cool. And did I mention fun. It is. Good luck finding one and if you do expect high miles and expensive. Got a good deal on ours because they didn't want to fudge with the horn. Beep beep, have fun!
Fun to drive, dependable car, low mileage
If any: has solved leak issue
I regret I need to sell my car, but I cannot take it with me as I move across the ocean. This hard top convertible makes your day, every day. The car has a luxury feel and is in excellent condition with low mileage. This car is such a pleasure to drive, with the top down or up, it's a treat.
Fun to drive and awesome speaker system
The hard plastics in some areas I disliked
I have owned this car from December 2006 brand new and I have 394,800 km 12-12-21 (or 245,317 miles). I live in Athens, Greece and have no garage. I honestly have beat the hell out of this car driving it daily to work. I have always paid attention to preventive maintenance, meaning changing the oil every 10,000 or so km. I have travelled to distant destinations, islands, off the road in villages and confronted snow too. I have the 1600 cc fsi model and I can say I'm more than satisfied by the driving experience and the comfort. If I had any issue with the car is that the so-called mechanics at the dealership and beyond cannot comprehend what they are doing with the car. One mechanic found it hard to believe it was a convertable. So silly mistakes were made whenever I took the car in for service I had to cross my fingers that nothing else would be damaged. It is really hard to find an honest and decent mechanic these days. So I hold onto this car as long as I can because the newer these cars get the more challenging they will become to be serviced correctly. In all, I was pleasantly surprised by this car and I would honestly consider purchasing another Volkswagen once again. I hear these complaints by many but one must be honest that you can't turn your back on any car these days because you have to give alittle to get alittle. Become one with the car and don't neglect its needs.

This car is the best! I love the power (turbo is the best). The convertible is my favorite feature. The leather seats and outrageous, banging sound system make this a crazy cool vehicle. Can't understand why it was discontinued.
