What Owners are Saying About the 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio

"I love this car, but I really should get rid of it"

"I bought my 02'cabrio after my divorce and before my mid-life crisis.Lol. I always wanted the volkswagen rabbit convertible back in high school, and now I finally have my car. Several expensive repairs later, I really should consider selling it, however, the minute I get in my cabrio, it makes me happy!! I love to drive this car along the beach roads at sunset. So, that being said, since it is my second vehicle, I guess I will keep it around awhile. I asked the cabrio to please just give me 6 months in between repairs. The deal seems to be holding up so far. Lol"

"Great commuter !"

"I have always loved older Volkswagons and I thought I'd look cute driving one. I bought this car 5 years ago with 86000 miles on the odometer and it hasn't given me a reason to not trust it to commute. I commute about 40 miles total a day (20 to and from work) and only recently it started giving me problems. The roof is starting to become a bother due to the new leaks and my fuel pump is starting to fail. I just had to get it towed for the first time due to an unexpected shutdown of the car. At the time I didn't think about what could be wrong with my car only that it stalled and wouldn't start. The man who towed my car home said that he drove the car onto the bed of the truck. Soon after the man at the shop said that it was my fuel pump and that they sometimes do that when they start to fail. I knew something was bound to go wrong when you have a car that is 19 years old and hasn't broken down in 5 years. The car is very fun to drive due to the fact that it is a convertable. The 2.0L I4 engine is excellent on gas getting 30ish miles to the gallon highway. The interior is very well designed other than the fact that the center console is a little close to the E-brake handle and over time it slowly works its way loose. I have the Monsoon audio system and love it. The treble and mid-range are great but the bass isn't as good. The seats are heated and are nice in the winter. The AC hasn't given me any other issues other than adding coolant here and there. I did go the cheaper path with my catalytic converter. I just smashed out the cadmium and reinstalled the empty pipe, I need to fix that right soon. The trunk does seem tiny in pictures but is a lot bigger than what meets the eye. The only con with the trunk is that the opening to the trunk, It is hard to fit many things bigger than grocery bags through that opening."

"Great little car!"

"I just love my little '01 Cabrio. It's the second one I've owned. The first didn't have cruise and I bought a 2nd one in '02. I put it away in the winter and drive it in the summer. No problems at all in either car. My 3 granddaughters just love to ride around in it. I've found non-dealer repair people who have worked on most maintenance. Just the usual, tires, brakes, filters, etc. Fun to drive and everyone remarks on how cute it is! The top is great, also, and really keeps the road noise to a minimum."
