Positive Review
I'm retired and have an income based mostly on s.s. and a small pension. My Mini Cooper became pricey after ten years but I hated to lose the fun driving. The solution? Toyota Yaris! ( a.k.a.) Mazda2. I wanted a Mazda3 but had to keep my total purchase under $19k. The Yaris answered most all my needs: fun to drive, nice to look at, reliable, and low monthly payments. I've had it for 10,000 miles now, have averaged 41 mpg and still look forward to each drive. The car is really quiet, at least under 75 mph where I stay. The ride is smooth, the steering light as a feather. I'm quickly used to the infotainment system and I like it. I've read about the small back seat, but my dogs haven't complained yet :-)
Critical Review
This is a really good looking, very nicely appointed car that's a serious disappointment. After 5 months of driving I'm ready to take a loss on it. The seats are very small (I'm 5'8", 185) and it feels like I'm sitting ON TOP OF and on on or snugged into the seats. Acceleration is deadly slow. There's times merging on to the the interstate that you can FLOOR the accelerator and not catch up with traffic. In stop-and-go traffic the accelerator is pushed halfway down before the car moves. It's almost like it's stuck in a high gear and won't downshift. I've red-lined the tach to avoid being run over by big trucks. Car has wicked bad blind spots. I find the mirrors useless. The rear headrests are a joke of engineering and the radio is mid-level at best. The AC is weak on all but the highest setting, and in SC, that a crime in the summertime! But it is a gorgeous car in black, the interior very well put together. Mostly, the car is a huge disappointment that I look forward to trading.

Bought it used with around 26k miles. I've had it for about 4 years and I've 0 issues with the car aside from the regular maintenance. The sound system is amazing. The pickup is quite nice for that little engine. The handling is better than expected. Again, 0 issues with it. I used to have an Audi A4 and while that car was a premium car, the maintenance was expensive after 100k miles. I cannot recommend this beautiful little car enough to everyone.
Great car. Great buy.
Speaker system. Needs an up grade.
Great looker. Very similar to a Corolla. I park next to a 2016 Corolla everyday. The iA has all the perks of a fully loaded vehicle. Mine has on screen Navigation. And most importantly the same "Sport" button the Corolla has. Allowing me a big power boost when merging, changing lanes and just needing to pick up the pace. Comfortable on long rides and drives strong on the highway. Very happy with my purchase. Bought with low miles 9,000mi, for $12,0000, in 2019.
Cute, reliable, good price, compact, good on gas
Slow to accelerate, noisy, small back seats
I just bought my 2017 Yaris IA. It’s really cute, runs well. It doesn’t have the best acceleration, but it’s reliable. I really like it a lot. It was the best car I could fine for under 14000. I love the backup camera. It’s a simple, basic good little car.
Great gas mileage
Not much power
This is an economy car, May be a little uncomfortable on long trips, Takes an odd size tire. I've had mine for about six years, no problems. Gas mileage is between 40 and 43 MPG, which is amazing for a gasoline motor, You trade power for MPG, especially when using AC. Overall it's perfect for me.
gas milage 30 mph, sched, maint, ecery 6,000 miles
drivers side window hard to open
car is in good condition, good gas mileage and had scheduled maintenance done every 6,000. miles took really care of my vehicle all the time had it.
Sporty, great handling, good sound system.
Can be slow to accelerate, noisy on the freeway.
For the price, this car has most everything anyone could need. It is well featured, looks nice, has aluminum wheels, good sound system, and has a good motor that's paired well with its transmission. You can travel almost 350 miles on one 10 gallon tank of gas. I would recommend this car to anyone who doesn't have the need for speed.
New brakes and rotors at only 18000 miles. Faulty fuel pump causes car to die unexpectedly. This vehicle has caused me such angst, money and time due to the problems it has had at such young mileage. The fuel pump recall is taking much too long to remedy and the car just goes dead unexpectedly. I am afraid to drive far from home and live alone.
Good gas mileage and looks sporty!
Performance needs more giddy-up!
I was in need of a vehicle and I had never owned a Toyota before. My credit was lacking so the salesman took me to this little car and I was very pleased at the appearance and the way it drove. I drove off the lot when it had 3 miles on it and have had no issues except the tire pressure regulator goes off once in awhile for no reason and it could have a little bit more giddy-up!! My monthly payments are good and I love my Toyota!!
