Positive Review
I don't think I could have bought a better truck than I did. Worked out of it for years never left me anywhere along the way.

I purchased my 1993 T-100 SR-5 single cab 5-speed manual longbed 25 years ago and it was 5 years old at that time with 58,000 miles on the clock. It now has 352,000 miles and to date I have only had to do the following: replaced the transmission rear seal once at about 140,000 miles, replaced the clutch twice at 120,000 mile intervals after purchase (I tow a lot), rebuilt the clutch cylinder and replaced the U-joints once at the second clutch change, replaced the alternator at about 200,000 miles, replaced the power steering pump that started leaking at about 250,000 miles, and finally replaced the timing belt at 330,000 miles when the original water pump finally started leaking. The a/c is still cold and has never needed a recharge, which is saying something in the desert. For routine maintenance I've replaced belts, hoses, spark plugs and brake pads before it was needed - all of two or three times. Other than the clutch work, I have done all the maintenance and repairs myself. In 25 years, not including tires every 50k miles or so, I have not spent more that $4,000 total in maintenance. She's a little tired but still runs pretty strong, doesn't burn more than 1/2 quart of oil every 3,000 miles, and has never left me stranded on the side of the road, ever. Considering that I paid $11,000 cash for it in 1998, and today I can still sell it for about half that much, my total cost of ownership has been a pittance and the truck owes me nothing. I fully expect to get another ten years out of "Goldy" before I quite driving. This is my third Toyota truck since 1978 and I have done more than 600,000 miles of driving between them. The other two (Japan-built, not U.S.-built) were just as good.
value, value, value
wish mine had cruise
Might be the best gas engine vehicle ever made. Smooth, reliable, durable. My mechanic changed the oil and said, "Don't ever sell that truck; they're better than new ones. And if you do, call me first!"
This truck is honestly the best truck I’ve ever driven. It has the best gas mileage of any truck I’ve driven. I get 23/25 mph highway, 19/21 city. I can do a 250 mile trip on 45 bucks of gas. At the time of this the gas price where I live is around 5.99 per gallon. I will forever miss this truck, 8/10
Has roof rack for canoe, small boat, lumber, plywood, ?? Cab height canopy with side windows with window screens. Windows can be opened.
Tough truck no moans from anything while wheeling
Wish it had a V8 :(
I work on cars and trucks every day. I've wanted a 4x4 for a long time. My neighbor sold me my 97 T100 for a really good deal. Since then Ive taken my 3 young boys on adventures up mountains and camping in hard to get to spots, with nobody around! Love Toyotas ! Truck runs and operates flawlessly with no effort getting up steep hills or plowing through mud holes !

The 3.4 is an amazing engine. Four wheel drive is super solid. My truck is a 5-speed manual which is best in my opion especially when towing. I tow my 3500* boat just fine. Put it in 4lo and it pulls the boat out of the water with ease and no tire spin. Super reliable and comfortable truck.
Extremely reliable, good 4wd.
Door latches die, somewhat under-powered.
I have 181,000 miles on my 97 T100 and am ready to finally sell it. I've owned it for about half of it's life of 18 years. I've had few problems with this vehicle, and it has been a workhorse. My biggest complaint has been the door latches, which no longer shut all the way, making for a very rattly ride. But the engine, although somewhat under-powered, has been extremely reliable. I had a sensor go bad that made the 4wd go out, and the carbon canister had to be replaced. I would have expected better fuel economy from the V6, it gets about 18 mpg, which is similar to the Tundra V8's. Other than that, it's been a great truck.
