Our top-rated minivan, the 2024 Toyota Sienna, excels at moving families while touting terrific fuel efficiency. It’s also one of the only minivans to offer all-wheel drive. Pricing starts at $39,080.
Families who have one just know: Nothing moves kids, parents, pets, and anything or anyone else quite like a minivan. And the Toyota Sienna is among the best of its breed. In fact, the Sienna is our top-ranked minivan and reigning Best Buy Award winner in its class.
Thank a winning formula that combines versatility, efficiency, and value. The 2024 Toyota Sienna can seat seven or eight depending on configuration, comes standard with a hybrid powertrain that delivers up to 36 mpg, and offers all-wheel drive. There are plenty of trims to choose from, too, from workaday to luxurious, and even the outdoorsy Woodland Edition.
The Toyota Sienna competes with other minivans such as the Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Pacifica, and Kia Carnival.
For 2024, the Sienna lineup adds an XSE Premium package with amenities like leather upholstery, orange accent stitching, heated/ventilated front seats, and more. LE and XLE trims get darkened chrome accentuated headlights, while the wheels in XSE AWD and Woodlands trims get a darker finish.
The 2024 Toyota Sienna has a starting sticker price of $39,080, with the range-topping Sienna Platinum kicking off at $54,540. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,354 to $2,182 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The pricing of the Toyota Sienna is similar to the Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica. The Kia Carnival begins at just over $33,000.

The Toyota Sienna enjoys excellent resale value and is a repeat winner of our Best Resale Value Award in the minivan class. Higher resale value means this vehicle is worth more than others when it’s time to sell or trade it in.
Every time we get in one, we find the Toyota Sienna comfortable, quiet, and easy to drive. The Sienna’s hybrid powertrain isn’t as potent as rivals’ V6 engines, which means you’ll need some patience regarding highway passing. But for most other situations and general around-town duties, it’s plenty powerful. If you want a Sienna that’s slightly zestier in the turns, check out the XSE trim, which has a sport-tuned suspension. Just remember, though: This thing is still a minivan.
The Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica are the only minivans to offer all-wheel drive, and it’s a good choice if you regularly live where roads get slick and slippery due to foul weather. The outdoorsy Woodland Edition comes with AWD standard, plus a bit more ground clearance. It’s not meant to be an off-roader, but it can reasonably traverse dirt roads to a campsite so your family can live its best #vanlife.
The Toyota Sienna’s driving position and ride height are just right, and we also appreciate its good visibility. Blind-spot monitoring is standard, as is Toyota’s excellent and robust suite of active safety features such as adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and lane-tracing assist. We’ve found them to all work well and take some of the stress out of commutes.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and researching this generation of minivans, including the Toyota Sienna.
Where the Sienna pays off, literally and figuratively, is with its hybrid powertrain. During our year with a long-term test model of this current-gen Sienna, we were regularly elated by its efficiency. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) models earn 36 mpg combined, and you only give up one mpg with all-wheel drive (AWD). Those numbers would be good for a small economy sedan. Yet here they are in a minivan that can seat eight.
We also smile whenever we pass the long lines at a gas station when driving a Sienna. FWD models have an EPA-rated range of up to 648 miles between fill-ups or 630 for AWD models. The Toyota Sienna is a genuine road-trip warrior. More Toyota Sienna fuel economy information is available on the EPA’s website.
The Toyota Sienna is made with families in mind, and nowhere is that more apparent than inside. As with all modern minivans, three rows are standard, and you can choose seating for eight or seven. If you want an 8-seat Sienna, know that it’s only offered in the LE trim (where it’s the only choice) or the XLE, where it’s optional. All others replace the second-row bench with two individual seats, reducing passenger count by one but adding comfort to the second row and easier access to the third. For a VIP-like experience, second-row captain’s chairs with ottomans are available.
Whatever the seat, we’ve found it comfortable, with even the third row offering an adult-friendly 38.7 inches of legroom. Cargo space is also generous, even if it’s a bit smaller than what rivals offer. Seating materials range from basic fabric in the LE model to SofTex synthetic leather in higher trims or genuine leather in upper models.
All trims include features that make family life easier: power-sliding side doors, easy-stowing third-row seats, and built-in side-window sunshades to ease the glare on young faces. Speaking of comfort, we appreciate that even base models have tri-zone climate control, with quad-zone available.
There’s a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the dash. That display size can’t compete with the 12.3-inch unit in a topline Kia Carnival, but it’s still an inch bigger than the Odyssey offers and relevant for today’s parents. Other available tech features include a rear-seat entertainment system, a 360-degree parking camera, and the Driver Easy Speak intercom system.
By design, minivans are function over form, but the Sienna still has enough interesting aspects to stand out from the crowd. Overall, it’s a swoopy, sweptback look with supple body creases and modern lighting elements. Just look at the sense of motion those headlights convey.
Like it or not, the Sienna’s grille is enormous, and its design varies depending on trim grade, from horizontal slats to a honeycomb mesh.
XSE trims have a darker and moodier look to signify their sportiness, while the Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition has a slightly taller stance. The Sienna Woodland has 6.96 inches of ground clearance, vs. 6.37 of the standard model.
Today’s pack of minivans are similar in size, so the Sienna’s dimensions align with those of the Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Pacifica, and Kia Carnival.
36 mpg
The Sienna’s standard – and only – powertrain is highly efficient. And thanks to Toyota’s decades of making hybrids, it’s smooth and up to the task.
Available AWD
The Sienna’s optional all-wheel drive only adds to the versatility of its feature set and is yet another reason to pass on that gas-guzzling SUV as your next family car.
Hands-free side doors and tailgate
The option to open and close the side and rear doors with the wave of a foot bolsters the Sienna’s everyday convenience.
Toyota Safety Sense (TSS)
This is Toyota’s name for its bundle of active safety and driver-assistance features, and it’s standard in every Sienna. Features like radar cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist are included.
Resale value
When purchasing a vehicle, this is often out of mind, yet it becomes a significant factor when it’s time to sell. The Sienna has class-leading resale value, so file that away now and appreciate it later.
It tows, too
If you need another reason to give a minivan a chance over an SUV, the Sienna is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds, enough for a personal watercraft or off-road toys.
No frustrating choices here, just the confidence of knowing you’ve made an intelligent choice. A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine powers the Toyota Sienna mated to an electric motor. This hybrid powertrain makes a total of 245 horsepower. That’s a bit low for this class, but the upside is that the hybrid Sienna returns outstanding fuel economy. The Sienna is the only minivan to come standard with a hybrid powertrain. Its rivals all come standard with a less fuel-efficient V6, while the Chrysler Pacifica offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain that can run up to 32 miles on battery power alone.
The Sienna employs an electronically controlled continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional, even in a base, 8-passenger Sienna LE.
Toyota Sienna warranty coverage lasts three years or 36,000 miles, with the powertrain protected for five years (unlimited miles). The hybrid battery is covered for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles. New Toyotas also include two years or 25,000 miles of complimentary maintenance.
The Toyota Sienna touts top scores when it comes to safety. It earns the coveted Top Safety Pick+ honor from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a 5-Star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The 2024 Toyota Sienna is in the top 10% for Cost to Own among all Minivans.

Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
