Positive Review
The family was looking to down size vehicles and also improve gas mileage. So we looked in the small SUV category at all options- Honda CRV, Ford Escape, Mazda 5, Chevy Equinox, etc. Although all have them had certain features we liked and it was a tough decision, the new RAV4 overall was the best quality, options and new style that fit for us. The value for the options we were looking for led us to the XLE model. We have had the vehicle now for more than a month and it has been even better than expected. The ride and comfort are very good for a small vehicle. There is plenty of leg room even when there are four or five people. Back seats recline which makes the difference so you get a feeling of more space. Gas mileage has been great coming from a large SUV. Overall it has been a very good vehicle.
Critical Review
This is my third Rav4. My husband is still driving the 2007, with over 100,000 miles on it. We have never had a serious problem with it. I had a new 2012 with only 8,000 miles on it when I was hit and my car rolled twice on an interstate. The car was totaled. I walked away with some scratches and bruises. I credit that to the car's safety features and God. I immediately bought a 2013 to replace it, without a lot of thought to the changes in it except for the rear hatch now being opened from the top. After I bought the car, I realized that Toyota had actually cheapened down the car. Gone are the extra console compartment, the second closed glove box and the little change and garage door opener cubbies. Not to mention the 110 plug in and the digital radio controls. The carpet is replaced with a cheap-looking material along with the sound-proofing. The road noise is really loud, and the wind noise around the Windows is really bad. As far as driving, it is ok, but not as quick on the take-off as my 6 cylinder 2012. The storage in the back was cut down for a place for the under-sized spare tire. That is a big downgrade as far as I am concerned. And why did they take out those great handles to lay the seats down from the back? It seems like they took all of the best features out. I do love the backup camera and the blind-spot signals are wonderful. But why did they put a switch on the dash to turn them off? The controls stuck on the left hand side of the dash are very hard to see, and very awkward to use. Too easy to push the wrong button. All in all, I would not recommend this car, nor will I buy another Toyota. So disappointing!!!

Good on gas and very reliable.
Very under powered. And slow charging of your electronic devices.
Very reliable but extremely under powered. It weighs 3600. And when you turn the AC on forget about it. You might as well cutout the floor boards so you can stick your feet out and push off like Fred Flintstone. Also the USB and lighter ports are extremely slow to charge your phone.
Extreme reliability and quality Japanese build.
Dated appearance
We searched for a super clean 2018 AWD RAV4, and were lucky enough to find a one owner, super low miles, extremely clean example. We intend to keep this car as long as it lasts, hopefully for 20 plus years.
I bought my car in California, so it has more points of efficiency than some other states before it even is sold. My RAV has been taken care of consistently through dealerships for the services it has needed as is recommended by Toyota. It is in excellent condition. It is white and I have had the extra protection put on the paint from the day I purchased it. When tires are recommended it has always been replaced. I feel this car has been taken care of to the best of efforts. I am now in North Carolina and have kept up the services by a dealership for Toyota. I would like to trade it in on a 2025 Toyota RAV4 Prime if I get a good quote for my RAV. If not, I would want to wait another year so.
Scratch right bumper. Recent accident involving left bumper. 4 brand new tires. Runs like brand new.
It's a Toyota.
To much electronics.
