Positive Review

"The best Prius yet"

We have had this car for a bit more than two weeks now, and I can say that Im impressed with the overall feeling and driving comfort of it. It feels and drives like a luxury midsize sedan and not an economy compact. The interior is very well refined and the center console with the 11" screen is something out of the future. The quality of that tablet size screen leaves some to be desired, as it is definitely not a "retina" display but I cant complain, not at half the price of the cheapest Tesla out there. It is reasonably quiet, especially in EV mode and does not feel underpowered as long as you realize what this vehicle tries to achieve and what it is not. My average mpg with 4 full charges and 70 miles a day commute is around 72 mpg which is awesome. The only potential inconvenience is the fact that there is no 5th seat in the middle of the back, its place taken by a nicely done center console. The 2 rear seats feel more like a limo seating with room for everything and maybe because of the center console. Overall, I think I may be falling in love with it and really enjoy the ride. If the 4 passenger cabin is not a showstopper for you, then this truly is a great Prius, maybe the best one yet.

Critical Review

"Terriable"

I have owned the Prius Prime for several months and found it extremely complicated to drive! Controls are very confusing and manuals are even worse! The Prius Prime is about the equivalent of driving an I phone! Due to the large battery there is no room for grocery bags or any storage so the Prius Prime is useless for shopping. It does get excellent mileage and should be marketed as a station car only and due to its limited seating it would not be useful as a commuter car pool car. The Prius Prime is definitely not a family car and should never be sold as one!

Great mpg
Pros

Cons

seats aren't very comfortable

I get about 154 mpg based on the overall mileage. I enjoy the mileage I get using the plug-in battery. I use it for running errands around town that is why my overall mileage is so good.

Super efficient and cheap to keep
Pros

Efficient and reliable

Cons

None

My wife and I purchased this car new. With the federal credit at the time it was a no-brainer. The car has close to 90,000 miles. Only oil changes and on second set of tires. Zero problems. Consistent 25 miles on electric and we charge it overnight at home. It is absolutely the most inexpensive car I have ever owned. And no range anxiety. Electric and gas, that's the way to go at the present time. No other way is cheaper.

Looks brand new, gets over 20 miles EV only, new tires, no scratches new floor carpets Prius OEM!! I always get compliments on magnetic blue color, I really like this car but I have developed sone mobility issues and have a hard time getting out of drivers seat, I’m 6’5 and 300lbs so I need a cars with higher seat to driveway!

Bang for buck

Drive 30 miles or less to work? These things are AMAZING on gas. On long trips (200 miles or more) I've averaged 60+ mpg. I keep track of my gas spending and usage. I have not put gas in it in over 3 months just charging at home, still have about 55% tank left. If you can drive without a lead foot this will be the best car you've ever owned.

Great car for the city

Great gas milage if you can find ways to charge it. Can be challenging in the city, but totally worth the effort and wonderful to have gas when all the chargers are being used or broken. Perfect EV-light vehicle while we all wait for charging infrastructure to be built up in North America.

Great fuel efficiency

I've had this car for 2 years; most of my experiences with it have been positive, but I do have a handful of complaints. Overall, the car is a solid choice for commuting. Pros: The fuel efficiency is great! The PHEV battery provides 20-30 miles of all-electric range and can be charged overnight on a 120-volt outlet, or within 2-3 hours on a fast charger. Without a charged battery, the fuel efficiency averages around 50-55mpg. The car design is visually more attractive than the previous Prius generation. Maintenance costs are low and I haven't had any mechanical issues in 2 years. Cons: The 11.6" infotainment screen uses an outdated map with outdated applications; there's no Android Auto or CarPlay. The PHEV battery reduces trunk space and backseat passenger seating space. There's no spare tire. Underwhelming sound dampening and audio quality is noticeable on the freeway. The front doors open relatively low, so front-side passengers frequently scrape the door against curbs higher than 5 inches.
