Positive Review
We purchased a used 2001 Totyota Highlander 4 Cyl in February 2007. Not only does this vehicle get approx 25 miles a gallon, but the repair and maintenance costs are extremely low! We have taken the vehicle on several road trips and yet am I to put more than $200 into repairs on this vehicle. 105k miles and runs like a top. I reccommend this to anyone who wants a safe fun and affordable vehicle. They look clean and drive extemely well. With todays gas prices, there is not a better choice I have made this year! Go get one!

I bought this vehicle in 2009 with 127,000 miles on it. This owner purchased it with5,400 miles as a dealer’s private vehicle. If I hadn’t hit a deer I would have kept this vehicle. It had 306,400 miles and gave me great service. I am a residential remodeling contractor and this Highlander did almost as much as any cargo van or pickup did that I have had in over 45 years of work. It got better gas mileage than any pickup on the road today and the ride was so nice. I had no mechanical problems just ordinary maintenance as it was serviced every 3500 miles. Now I am looking for another one to replace this one that served me so well. If you are looking for a reliable vehicle don’t pass up a Toyota.
Reliable. Roomy. Strong motor
Gas mileage
Compared to my FORMER Mkz the Toyota Highlander made in Japan is superior in fit and finish. I purchased mine at 160000 miles and it purrs like a kitten. Smooth and instills confidence every start. Don't have to baby the Toy unlike my Lincoln which had fit and finish chaos. Plenty of space and still a looker. V6 is strong with enough hp for the mountains.
An excellent SUV
Interior not so great some dings on the body windows does not work well but stereo is good cd player and cassette player
Third row seat Always serviced by Toyota never in an accident Moon and Tilt roof new tires color Silver/Blue
Most reliable, plenty of space, lots of comfort.
Towing capacity is low (2,000 lbs)
This vehicle is the jack of all trades and master of none, but it gets it all done reliably. The only downside of this car is the MPG, which is inherent to the SUV class of cars. Huge cabin for bringing drunk friends home or if you are like me you can take the seats out and turn it into a camper. I've only had to repair the A/C system from previous owner running it dry and some minor bits and pieces don't work after 20 years of abusing it (I broke the sunroof motor belt and my passenger lock doesn't open with the key anymore), but mechanically it always starts right up and gets me where I need to go. Bought at 140k, pushing on 200k with no major maintenance bills, and I confidently expect to hit 300k in it at this rate.
Excellent reliability
I cannot think of anything negative to say about t
I purchased this model 2004 I had absolutely no problems with it. I have driven the car over 210,000 miles and no issues. Just the normal upkeep . I cannot recommend this car enough it has served my family well.
Nice interior, does everything you need it to do
Horrible sounding engine, low towing capacity
Needed a reliable daily in place of my project car, and this fits the bill perfectly! 3.3L V6 is a strong engine, pulls when it needs to and is smooth otherwise. The cams are incredibly noisy, but it runs well, so I can't complain. I bought it recently at 150k and have put 10k miles on it this year, through several trips with the hatch fully loaded with stuff. Driven through floods, on sand and rocks, and pavement, and she does it all surprisingly well for only being FWD. My only complaints are the gas mileage, which is rather bad in the city, and the transmission, which I've heard is exceptionally reliable, but is a very clunky, indecisive transmission and never ceases to drive me crazy under slow, stop-and-go traffic. Otherwise, it's a very solid and comfortable vehicle. I recommend it, if you can find one free of the dreaded "Toyota tax" you see on used Toyotas.
Reliability
None
I bought this car with o er 200k on it and it’s still going strong at 260k and have barely made any repairs! The only problem I have is the exhaust is practically falling off and I have it held up with chains. But that’s because the car came out 23 years ago and the exhaust is original. This car is literal proof that Toyota is the best car manufacturer on the market. This is my second Toyota to break 250k miles l, except I can see this one making it to 300k easily.
