The 2023 Toyota GR Supra is a sports car that straddles the line between mainstream and luxury. It’s more upscale than more affordable sports cars like the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Toyota’s own GR86, but it’s priced lower than luxury sports cars like the Porsche 718 Cayman. The GR Supra lives up to its name with an engaging driving experience and head-turning styling. It gets some nice updates for 2023, most notably a manual transmission option for driving purists. The chief rivals of the GR Supra are the BMW Z4 and the new Nissan Z.
The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors, but here's a general idea of what buyers are currently paying for used 2023 Toyota GR Supra models when purchasing from a dealership.
Original MSRP | KBB Fair Purchase Price (national avg.) | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
$45,735 | $41,396 | |||
$54,695 | $54,419 | |||
$57,845 | $53,668 | |||
$59,440 | TBD |
For reference, the 2023 Toyota GR Supra originally had a starting sticker price of $45,735, with the range-topping GR Supra A91-MT Edition Coupe 2D starting at $59,440.
In our testing, the base turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the 2.0 model is lively enough for a fun drive, and the car’s agility satisfies our inner enthusiast.
Drivers with a bigger budget will want to upgrade to the turbocharged 6-cylinder. The 6-cylinder 3.0 models improve the performance with more power, more torque, and other performance upgrades like an Adaptive Variable Sport suspension and an active rear sport differential. The result is a refined and engaging sports car that’s a blast to drive at any speed.
That Adaptive Variable Sport suspension makes the GR Supra a more agreeable daily driver and more exciting in spirited driving. We found that it made the Supra comfortable on the highway and agile in the corners without compromise.
One minor gripe about the drive: Outward visibility is a bit compromised.
The Toyota GR Supra is a 2-seater with nice interior materials, but the seats aren’t very roomy. Leather and Alcantara-trimmed seats, carbon fiber interior trim, and a digital gauge cluster come standard. It can get more luxurious with optional interior features like a head-up display, JBL premium audio, and a wireless charging pad.
We find it a bit challenging to climb in and out of the seats of the GR Supra gracefully, but that’s part of life with an authentic sports car. The trunk isn’t huge, but it’s big enough to be useful, and we like the wide opening making it easy to load and unload.
The GR Supra has some styling cues borrowed from the older Supra models, but it’s a thoroughly modern sports car. A new A91-MT special edition has unique Burnout and CU Later Gray paint options.
Two engine choices
The base 4-cylinder engine puts an affordable price tag on the GR Supra, and the more potent 6-cylinder engine makes it more engaging to drive. Both engines are excellent, but the more popular 6-cylinder engine is worth the cost if your budget allows it.
Manual transmission
Some enthusiasts were disappointed that the GR Supra was automatic-only when it returned in 2020. However, Toyota has silenced the naysayers by making an old-school 6-speed manual transmission available for the 2023 model for three-pedal purists.
NASA membership
Buying a new Supra comes with a one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association with one complimentary High-Performance Driving Experience and discounted admission to NASA-sanctioned events. NASA membership will help you get your GR Supra to the track.
Adaptive Variable Sport suspension
Six-cylinder GR Supra models come with Toyota’s Adaptive Variable Sport suspension. This variable suspension helps make the GR Supra a comfortable cruiser in daily driving and a track-ready monster in more spirited driving almost instantaneously.
Premium trim
The popular 3.0 Premium trim makes the GR Supra more of a luxury car. Standard features include heated seats, a memory driver’s seat, JBL 12-speaker audio, a head-up display, and a wireless charging pad. Brembo 4-piston brakes are another nice perk.
Safety & Technology Package
This option package, available for the 2.0 and 3.0 models, adds features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, a JBL audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay (but not Android Auto), and more.
The standard engine in the GR Supra is a turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine has a nice balance of performance and efficiency, making it a practical choice in the GR Supra line. It’s both fun and easy to drive, and its pricing puts the GR Supra within reach of a wide range of drivers.
The more popular of the two engines available in the GR Supra is the turbocharged 6-cylinder mill. The upgrades in power and torque are significant compared to the base engine, and it doesn’t require too much of a compromise in fuel economy. On top of more exciting performance, the 6-cylinder is available with a 6-speed manual transmission as a no-cost option. An 8-speed automatic comes standard.

Rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors
These safety items are invaluable in a car like the 2023 Supra, which sits low and has limited outward visibility. Not only can they help prevent an accident, but they also make parking a less hair-raising (and bumper-bashing) event.
Adaptive/dynamic cruise control
While the Supra is snug in terms of cargo room, that doesn’t mean some owners won’t take long road trips in it. Having adaptive cruise control takes the stress out of long drives by automatically maintaining a given speed and set distance to any cars ahead.
