"I really like this car, but I don't quite love it"

Exellent value. Because the car is bland in apperance and performance the car is undervalued by the market. This is great if you don't mind what it lacks and are looking for a luxurious car that will run forever. I have a 2000 XLS with only a few complaints: Road Noise is louder than expected, only one temp for heated seats (either high or Off), no fold flat rear seat, instead their is only a center armrest pass through, and no passenger lumbar (OK, now I'm getting a little too picky). One additional compaint, the car has automatic locking doors when you put the car in drive. That's fine, but when you place the car into park, the doors don't unlock. It's the one thing I'd change about the car, perhaps they fixed it in later years as mine is a 2000. Please don't get the wrong impression, overal I really like the car, so for the things I love: everything about the moonroof, the 115 volt outlet (very conveneint as I'm in sales and use a notebook computer on the road), value of the car, very few repairs at 150K miles, info display on dash that displays MPG's etc, the overal size of the car (it's big but not too big), the legroom in the front and back, I'm 6' 3" and I'm very comfortable in the front seat or the back with pletny of legroom and headroom, lots of storage, lots of little cubies for my stuff, the leather seats are in great shape after 150K miles (I bought it at 120K miles about 1.5 years ago)safety rating, and more I'm probably forgeting. If you don't mind the bland exterior styling and lack of performance, the price MORE than makes up for both when buying this car used.

"Some problems"

While it is a smooth and powerful ride we have had many issues due to the doors not closing correctly. You must slam the doors to make sure they are really closed otherwise you think they are closed but they aren't and the battery dies. This has happened to us too many times to count. We have now taken to checking all doors every night just to make sure. Plus, all the doors lock automatically so when you get home with groceries you must unlock back doors to get groceries or kids out. If you want to get something out of the car later on you again must unlock the back/side door. Not a problem with the driver side. Controls on car are too close together and too many controls in one place. For instance, when you use the turn signals it is very easy to accidentally turn on the brights etc. Otherwise, very roomy, rides smoothly, interior nice and have not had any major mechanical problems (besides the dead battery).

Reliable 21 years old
Pros

lighter outlet for tire compressor

Cons

none as of yet

I originally bought this vehicle for my son when he started driving at 16. he is now 20 years old and joined the navy. My vehicle was recently in an accident, so I have been driving his car for the last 2 months. The vehicle has 176,000 miles and still drives very smooth. I have only replaced back brake pads and regular oil changes since the car was purchased. Totally reliable, dependable, and for a car to be that old with high milage I can assure you that you won't have a problem if you are thinking of buying your child a first car. NO REGRETS...

Most dependable car
Pros

comfy, reliable, spacious

Cons

styling is a little bland

Bought this car from a family member after my newer car completely broke down. Its over 20 years old and has no warning lights on the dash and still drives well. It has a smooth ride and decent power. It has 175000 miles on it and seems to drive as well as when it was new. So far i'd say its the most reliable car i've ever owned.

2003 Avalon still on the Road
Pros

It lasts.

Cons

NA

The first thing I ever purchased off the internet was my 2003 Blue Avalon. This car is my best friend. We have been through bumps and bruises and we are both still cruising. I really do not want to sell it. All I need is a camera and I'm good. I love my Avalon. 234,000 miles so far.

Very smooth Ride BUT....
Pros

heated seats, very comfortableleather,interiornice

Cons

rust, bad fuel range

I got this car at 125,000 miles after one owner for 4,000 . Ever since that day, it's been repairs after repairs I do drive a lot because I'm going to school or I work far away. But this car has certain spots where it rusts or the paint doesn't look good because of weather effects. Even after spending 1,000 on the suspension just to find out, it was a simple hook, that holds two things together this car most definitely can be a headache. But overall after each repair, it rides smoother than before, and let me tell you these JBL speakers are the best ever just sucks you have to keep buying different transmitters. Overall now I'm just going to ride it till the 300k mark and ditch it the only thing good is the original jbl speakers heated seats and sunroof
