Positive Review
I've owned a couple dozen good to great cars, including a couple of $100k Jaguar sedans. While this car is not as plush and gorgeous as the Jags or as fast, it is adequately quick and fast for real world driving, and my Limited is very attractive inside and out on its own merits. In every other respect it is a state of the art gasoline sedan, imo, with very good ride, handling, and a VERY quiet interior. Easy to use controls, roomy interior, very comfortable seating all around. A very smooth car to drive. After a long drive fatigue is as low as anything I've driven. I've gotten 42 mpg avg in 5k miles, which is truly remarkable for a car of this size and a heavy footed driver. BTW, I love the JBL audio system. Not as bass-y as some, but excellent features and clarity. I've not owned a Toyota before, but this car, its design and execution shows they are world class carmakers. FWIW, this car is built in Georgetown, Kentucky on the same line as the Lexus ES300, from 90% US parts. With Toyota's legendary reliability I look forward to a long relationship with this lovely car.
Critical Review
Pros: 1. Great style and the front grille even though some people don't like it, I do. 2. Enhanced safety system and a bigger cargo space. 3. Better Fuel economy Cons: 1. I previously owned a 2018 Toyota Avalon Limited Hybrid which had a fuel tank capacity of 17.0 gal and the current 2021 Toyota Avalon Limited Hybrid only has a fuel tank capacity of 13.2 gal which results in the range loss of about 112 miles which can't be ignored and is a significant loss. So long distance travelers have to refuel more often even though it offers 3 miles better gas mileage! 2. The mirror on the door is a protruding and an awkward design compared to 2016-2018 Avalon models. They could have left the mirror where it was. 3. Limited front and rear headroom. 4. Low ground clearance, if the speed bumps are high you will bump the engine covers on it and the impact may rip off your Engine Splash Shield and you might have to replace them.

This car has exceded all of my expectations. From the mileage which is 46-47 mpg to the comfort and handling.
Mileage, comfort ride technology
Paint durability
I purchased this automobile on 6/08/22 at Town&Country Toyota in Charlotte NC, after a year of mostly urban driving plus a road trip to Florida I am most satisfied with this automobile. No warranty issues, none. Seamless operation, 44-45 MPG. Interior fit and finish flawless. The only complaint is the paint which seems less than durable and is susceptible to road debris. Highly recommended for those still interested in one of the last spacious well executed American-built 4-door sedans.
Quality, mpg, comfort
Outdated electronics, imposing front grill
I've had the Avalon for a 1 1/2 years without any problems to date. The car is comfortable and a good road car. Mileage is excellent at 40mpg overall. Workmanship is very good for a car made in the U.S. The paint is has a great shine, but seems to chip easily and has some noticeable "orange peel" in some areas. The mechanics are great, but the electronics are in need of some updating compared to other offerings. I'm quite happy with the purchase and my local Toyota dealer's service and sales departments.
One significant criticism is the OEM tires (short lived and sacrificed feel and performance for low rolling resistance). Now that I have replaced I realize just how mediocre the originals were. Sacrificed a couple of miles per gallon on fuel efficiency but much better fell and traction (went with Michelin Climate 2 as replacements). Consistent low-mid 40s in MPG). Vehicle is comfortable and attractive.
This is my 6th Toyota Avalon, and my 2nd Avalon Hybrid, guess you could call me a lifer. I love so many things about this model-its quiet cabin, the fit and finish of the interior, and the mileage. In cold winter months, my average MPG is 46.7 and in the warmer months, I average 50-51 MPG. My last Avalon Hybrid (2013) was still going strong at 200,000 miles when I sold it and it had zero mechanical issues during my 8 year span of ownership, and I anticipate this will be the same with my 2021 as well.
excellent safety
failed to start, defective battery.
Three months ago I took my Toyota Hybrid Avalon in for service, the battery was dead, I needed to jump start the vehicle. I was told that is was due to a defective positive battery terminal. On Friday, 6/17, 2022 the same thing happened again, the car would not start. I returned to my dealer and after a day's investigation they suggest that someone have changed the original battery and installed an incorrect replacement. It turns out that in 2020 I had the same issue and it was this dealer that installed the batter that just failed. They have since replaced the one they installed after destructive testing, leaking the acid over the battery and batter compartment. I submitted the service reports and my previous to Toyota Customer Experience Center, Case 220810000830.I am certain that the battery itself was defective because it was confirmed by the dealership. In any case I requested reimbursement of the paid amount, $160.79, based on the vehicle warranty. I have spoken the service manager, Rob Hayes. He suggested I write directly to Toyota based on the above analysis and Toyota would reimburse me.
Great MPG, reliable, comfortable ride and more.
Difficult for frt. passenger entrance/egress
Flawless prformance and and performance, 45 mpg plus, comfortable, great safety features, great value with all the comfort and convenience of more expensive cars. NO warranty or quality issues since new. GREAT vehicle, recommend these to anyone looking for reliability, performance, safety and MPG.
Looks attractive
GPS not user friendly
The GPS in this vehicle is a nightmare. We took it to two different dealers and found that even the technicians can’t operate the system. It is so confusing. Certainly Toyota could come up with a system that is user friendly. Very disappointed in this model. Loved our 2013 Limited.
