Great vehicle for the value but the timing chains are a major issue. If you are unlucky enough to not get the replaced under warranty its a major expense!! Avoid these used unless they can show receipts for the timing chain work. These will only last 110k or so if your lucky till they need replaced. Only exception would be the vehicle that had always had synthetic oil from the get go.....witch is very unlikely!! If you can find one with this fix they are overall a great rig!

I've only owned this XL7 for 3 yrs. and it has 79,000 miles on it. The timing chains have had to be replaced 3 times. Now I'm being told that Suzuki has known this was a problem with the XL7s, but unfotunately I didn't know this when I purchased it. Wish I had done more investigating into this model. I just really liked the looks and this one had a lot of nice features that I liked. Now it's just sitting in my driveway. I just can't afford to sink more money into it.

Reliable so far Lots of room for cargo family or friends. Needs electrical checked out.like the leather interior and the heated seats.
This vehicle handles extremely well in all weather conditions. Has good gas mileage , plenty of room and convenient easy storage.
Poorly made. Bad engine. Unreliable.
These are so poorly built. My family member and I both got one, theirs new mine used. We are both having the same problem. The engine is all gunked up, even though we've both been very good about getting our oil changed on time if not early. Apparently this is normal for the car... The timing belts went out on mine, going out on theirs. Cost to repair car is more than it is worth. Very bad investment!

I bought this vehicle used two years ago. I know they have a history of the timing chain going bad so I made sure it had a newer one, which one was installed prior to buying it. It has alot of power to the point I thought they might have made it faster. I mean its fast!! Only maintenence issue is I had to get a new cv joint to the front axle.. it wasnt expensive to fix.... and new brakes on the rear. I have a good mechanic so it will last a few more years.

ONLY WISH THAT WE HAD MORE THAN JUST ONE SUZUKI DEALER IN AZ THAT SERVICES THIS AUTO, HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET LOCAL AUTO SERVICES FOR FOREIGN MAKES THAT SERVICES THIS SUV WHICH HAS SIMILAR PARTS AS THE CHEVROLET EQUINOX. I INTEND TO HOLD ON TO THIS SUV AS NEW SUVS PRICES ARE GOING OUT OF SIGHT!

I still have a year and a half warranty on vehicle(the only thing exterior small hail damage and discolor on ONE side Due to body shop did not pur the white pearl paint on vehicle Love this vehicle I'm looking for a 3 seater,i have 15 GRANDKIDS OVER ALL EXCELLENT DEPENDABLE SUV nOTHING WRONG WITH MOTOR,TRANDMISSION,AND DEIVES SMOOTH!ALL MY REPAIRS WAS DONE AT SUZUKI OUT OF Joplin MO,EXCEPT OIL CHANGES&BODY WORK!I LOVE MY VEHICLE JUST NEED SOMETHING NWITH 3 SEATER!THANK YOU
