Positive Review
i was given this car from a relative after they were needing a bigger family car. it had 166,000 miles on it but still drove very well. didn't know anything about this model but did own a tracker that had a susuki engine and had no problems then later found out from reviews how good the reliability was. i have just now read the reviews on this aerio and majority pretty much comment on a good reliability record. burns no oil, no engine leaks. all electrical and mechanical works fine, except for the cd/radio. plenty of power and great on gas. fairly quiet interior. put on next size larger tires and sets a little higher and handles(steers) a lot better, tire wear now seems to be normal with the larger tires. automatic transmission shifts smoothly. for a small car, it doesn't get too pushed around while on the highway. for the age/wear, the interior has held up pretty well. didn't know anything about this car before owning it but it turned out to be quite a nice surprise. my relative said they hardly had any problems with it, just the typical/normal maintenance, no major repairs. plan on keeping this till it dies, hope it lasts as long as the saturn that i bought new and put 300,000 miles on it, selling it only because this susuki was newer/less miles. so far it is one of the best cheap(?) cars that i have owned and i have gone thru a whole lot of clunkers/junk in my time !
Critical Review
It has to be one of the worse cars I have ever owned. The body is cheap, and anything on the inside of the car falls apart. The onlt good option is the AWD, and the multi-disk cd player. I cannot wait to get rid of this car. But wait, I can't because it loses its value faster then a 6 year old computer. If you don't have any choice in cars, I guess it will get you from point a to b (If the main engine computer doesn't go out on you first) I think the worst part is the car is only 4 years old, and water guards underneath the car have been dropping off like flies.

It was great for the price.
As old as it is now, parts are hard to find.
Second-best purchase I ever made. I bought the wagon/van version for hauling kids, pets, plants and furniture. Starts like a jack rabbit. So quick, I get from point A to point B and nearly forget why I drove there. So glad I didn't sell it!
Very peppy, cornered great
Road noise. Scarce parts.
Loved the 5/6 CD player, the audio, the room inside. By 2015, parts were getting hard to find. I gave the car to my niece when she got her license. She then totaled it 3 months later. I was more sad than she was!
roomy and reliable
to low to the ground for where we live.
This car has been in the family since new. My mom bought it and used it as a daily driver. Then she gave it to my nephew when he turned 16. Big mistake. he trashed it. It was still drive-able but he neglected the maintenance of it. I got it from him and repaired things like all 4 struts, tie rod end, blower motor, fluid changes and brakes. Now that I have had the car for about 3 years it is one of the best running cars we have. 25mpg hwy can't be beat. The wives MINI gets that and it is 2 years newer, but it is hard to fit 3 grown adults in it. I am really going to hate to sell it. But we have way to many vehicles. And just bought a luxury SUV that gets the same mpg and can fit 4 adults plus the driver and all the camping gear you would ever need.
Agile and surefooted my Aerio is fun to drive and perfectly suited for city and suburban runarounds. Rear cargo is largest in class even without folding down rear seats flat. Extremely reliable after 134,000 I only wish there was another vehicle made like it. Body style does not appeal to everyone but many people ask "What make of SUV is that." The 2.3 L engine has lots of pep while delivering nothing less than 28 mpg. An unbelievable value for the price.
Operates great
Small for family
Great condition ,good running , well kept
Fun to drive and great car for the price!
Premature tire wear.
I bought this car new and its 11 yrs old with 195,000 miles on it and other than the original tires needing replacing at 30,000 miles, its been a very reliable car. The tire problem was fixed by going to a slightly taller tire with a harder compound. The paint is starting to fade because of the sun and no cover and a low idle rattle occurs now and it finally needs new struts. Everything is original! I cant complain but I think its time to replace it!
Reliable, space
Plastic bumpers and trim, low front bumper
Owned it for a few years now. I have never had to do more than general maintenance. Even with the little hiccups, there has never been a performance issue. The engine light has come on periodically for silly stuff like the gas cap. I really cant complain about this car at all. It has a surprising amount of power. It has a good amount of space for such a small car. Overall, this car is great, it does not stop going. It is consistently reliable. I have plenty of friends with cars 10 years newer than mine and it is me picking them up off the side of the road. I have been able to get higher gas mileage than the estimate in long highway trips. The visibility is some of the best I have ever had. The blind spots are relatively small as well.
great price, fun to drive, 5 stars
