"2007 SUBARU LEGACY 2.5i AUTO-NON TURBO REVIEW"

First off I would have never purchased this car if my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse V6 GTS did not get totaled by another person texting while driving and totaled my car on the highway. The reliability and performance I got from that car was "AWESOME". I would have kept that car forever. I could not find another as well maintained as mine or looked as good. So I settled for the Subaru because I like Japanese engine quality. Once I drive the car I was very impressed. There are not many Subaru's and I've only seen one other Legacy in McKinney, Texas. Yes it lacks the performance but not bad for a 4 Banger. I am 6'7" tall, 260lbs and I fit great "SHOCKED". My kinds are grown so only I drive it with the seat backed all the way. I do my own maintenance on my cars and this one is very easy to work on. It does not need special tools for simple things like brakes, plugs, hoses, oil, transmission & differential change. Belts are a snap for even a Skill level one DIY guy. That is what sold me on the car. AGAIN I love having the only LEGACY. I like being UNIQUE.

Critical Review

"Worst car ever"

Let's see, at 63000 miles, garage kept, and always properly maintained the car has the following issues: The automatic transmission slips constantly (repair cost $3,000-4,000) The head gasket is blown (repair cost $2,400) The struts are shot (repair cost $700) The AWD will not engage (repair cost ???) This is by far the worst car I have ever owned, and my second Subaru. I got a good trade in because my first Subaru (a 2003 Forester) had serious issues. The Legacy trans has slipped since new and Subaru at first denied the problem then lied about it. I had to sue them (I won). At 63,000 miles, no import should need this many repairs that total far more than the car's value. This basically makes it a disposable commodity. I will NEVER purchase another Subaru product in my life.

Cons

I have all maintenance records. All parts are removed. Looks great 👍 and runs great. Has new headlight lenses. Has interior floor mats, original. Has leather front seat covers. Drivers seat was damaged. Has led interior lights. Air Conditioning very good. Wheel air sensors still work. Has car alarm Security system. Tires are in great shape. Make an offer or I'll take 7,500.00 for it. All fluids have been changed. New Power steering pump. Throttle Body has been cleaned 👌.

14 years and it’s my daily driver
Pros

All wheel drive performance

Cons

Required maintenance

I’ve done a lot of work on this car. It’s only got 130ish k. Its had head gaskets (63k), ac compressor, all four struts, lots of breaks, lots of tires, 5 plug changes 2 wire changes, all four wheel bearings, hvac fan, some relays, all the bushings in the front, bunch of belts, a starter, crankshaft gasket blowout, water pump/timing belt, two batteries… In honesty, it’s a maintenance pig! In the same vein I’ll probably keep it until the wheels fall off. Despite all of that maintenance it’s still a very good car. Drives and handles like a dream. It’s a beast in the snow (as long as there is ground clearance and good tires). I added an echo auto in it to give me bluetooth but other than that no mods. Im glad I got the non turbo. It’s relatively low miles and I’m sure I should be able to crank out another 100k on it. At that point it will probably be 25 years old. Time will tell.

Bad head gaskets

I have a 2007 Subaru legacy with 158,000 miles head gaskets are leaking oil and built up pressure from compression and blew the radiator and caused heater core to leak. Everyone I talk to that has a Subaru from 2000 to 2007 have the same problems stay away expensive fix !!!

Pros

Fun to drive sexy ride

Cons

Burning oil smell

It's so bad we bought another legacy 2009. Only issue is the oil leak that all legacys have from like the crank case.

Great first car
Pros

Fun to drive, sporty, good handling

Cons

Noisy, slow, bad gas mileage

I owned this car for 3-4 years it was my first car. It lasted me over 200,000 miles and I have sold it to someone new, had to replace a lot in it around 170,000 between 170-176k I put $5,500 in work. Head gasket, coolant leak, a few other issues. It is also very loud and can be a little slow. But definitely a good first car.

Great vehicle overall
Pros

Great handling, gas mileage, reliability

Cons

Horribly uncomfortable

Really love this vehicle, handles great, great mileage, etc. The worst thing about this vehicle is it is not at all comfortable, forget about long road trips in this car. I am not sure why it always feels like you are sliding off the seat, and not sitting straight. It causes extreme pain and headaches. I unfortunately would not buy this vehicle again due to this. If you suffer from any kind of back or neck issues this is not the vehicle for you.
