Your car’s windows roll up and down at the touch of a button. Magic? Nope, it’s a mechanism called the window regulator, a mechanical track, guide, and electric motor that raises and lowers the glass. If your window is opening or closing slowly, making noises, or even getting stuck, it could be your window regulator. Age, lack of lubrication, and abuse are the usual suspects for premature failure. Keep in mind: if your window is gradually slowing down but can still close, it’s best to get it checked out before it stops working altogether or, worse, it gets stuck wide open. Because once a regulator stops working completely, it rarely starts working again.
