Positive Review

"Good performance, good looks"

I purchased my 2014 tC in black back in August. This car is very fun to drive aggressively, or just taking it on a cruise. I had this car for about 8 months now and enjoy driving it everyday. The car is perfect on power for the average person and both transmissions offer great performance. The pioneer system is much better than other companies offer. The interior is very spacious, even for people sitting in the back seat. Nobody can believe how much leg room there is in the back even with the front seats moved back. The seats are comfortable and supportive for longer drives, and they hold you in tight when turning around corners. The only problem I have with the car is the POOR paint quality. My car is black and there are about 5-10 white chips on the hood, and my front bumper's clear coat has about 50 holes in it.I know cars get marked up, but this is just unacceptable for a car that isn't even a year old. I will have to get it repainted when it starts to look worse and get a quality job to avoid this problem in the future.

Critical Review

"Never Buy Another Scion"

Horrible fit and finish, Mold smell from a/c, whole car rattles, squeaks, noises from everywhere, it's a over priced TOY CAR, very bad in resale value, take my lost and move on to different brand.

Reliable car
Pros

Reliable, good on gas

Cons

Height is low, comfort needs upgrades

Of all the cars I’ve owned throughout my life. The 2015 scion Tc is the best car. I’ve had this car 7 years and no major Macanical issues, I got the car at 25,000 mileage and is currently around 80,000 in mileage. Very reliable, As long as you keep up with a small maintenance, no big issues should happen in terms of normal wear and tear!

Reliable, safe, and fun!!!
Pros

Zippy, reliable, easy!!

I am a person who forgets to get regular maintenance, and I was the 3rd owner of my tc when I bought it in 2016, already 5 years old. The only thing I had outside of brakes, tires, oil changes, and batteries was replace the alternator at 115k miles. I never had to deal with anything out of the ordinary, and after recently getting into an accident that forced this tc into a guardrail at 50 mph- I can speak to its safety! I only had a sore body for a few days after airbags deploying. It did me so well that I REFUSED to even look at a different vehicle when I had to purchase after the total loss, and the market is TRASH right now. I loved this car, it had all of the get up and go that I wanted, plus the feature to lay the rear seats all the way flat made utilizing the hatch back to the fullest! I have moved shelves, bed frames, chairs, etc in the back of this sporty coupe. The factory sound system was also unlike anything I had come across, the multiple speakers along inside of the doors meant music surrounded you- it didn’t just beat thru the speakers in front of you. I can’t say enough to express my love for this car. It did me so much good in the 6 years I owned it, over a decade old with 140000 miles on it. I know it would have gone strong for many, many more miles had a it not been deemed a total loss. RIP

Love this car

I love this car, it is fun and reliable. I have never had any issues with it. It is a two door but it is super roomy inside and has lots of trunk space.

Good reliable car

Very good reliable daily. Good first car for those looking on the market for the first time. Somewhat sporty, not too quick for those concerned parents, and great to take on the road with. Only issues I can imagine is the gas mileage and frequent oil changes and rarity of a manual option, but other than that, these things refuse to break

Great Fun Daily with minimum investment
Pros

Tasteful Daily Driver and roomy

Cons

Lack of performance and big doors

I fell in love with this car the first day I drove it. It was so roomy inside, which a lot of coupes aren't, and even people that ride in the back are still comfortable. Driving the car feels great and it responds nicely. Even though it lacks power and is fwd, i still enjoy driving it. I personally upgraded some stock parts to the TRD ones and to still have it street legal. Plus those upgrades were a really tasteful improvement. I swapped out the intake with the TRD intake which made it respond better, swapped the exhaust to the TRD exhaust which made it sound deeper, but not too loud, a very comfortable aggressive sound, and threw on some TRD lowering springs which lowered it about an inch giving it a better handle on the road. I love driving the car everyday and maintenance is not too expensive or difficult to do yourself. I've owned this car for almost 4 years now and I have not had any issues with the engine nor the transmission. The only thing I do regret is the lack of horsepower. I wouldn't recommend investing in this car if you're looking for a car to modify heavily. This car is mostly for style, reliability, and is very user friendly. Also this car has some heavy and wide doors so getting out of your tC may be difficult in narrow spots. Sound system is fantastic as well.

Solid engine and transmission, a very reliable car
Pros

Reliable, smooth engine and transmission

Cons

A bit noisy, no paddle shifter earlier than 2015.

I have had my automatic 2012 TC since 2011. This car has been very reliable. All it ever needs are oil changes. I add a TRD airbox, TRD exhaust, and front and rear TRD stabilizer bars. The bars eliminates virtually all body roll and the suspension actually becomes more compliant. Overall, I am happy with the car. The first thing that caught my attention was the cool driving wheel. Very nice!! Another cool thing is the hatchback. Open the hatchback and stand back 10 feet directly behind the car and look at it. It's very cool looking. The engine and transmission are very smooth. When I put it in manual mode, the engine screams all the way to the redline without any issues, very smooth. I read complaints about jerky power delivery and hesitant shifting; there must be some defects going in these cases. As in my TC, the transmission is always smooth shifting up or down. The only thing I wish is that the transmission would shift faster in manual mode. I wish I have either the 2015 or 2016 model as they have a updated transmission with shift-paddles from the FRS. I test drove a 2016 models and yes, it shifted quicker both up and down. It even blipped the throttle while shifting down, very cool! The TC2 is a very stable car. At 80mph, the car feels like it's doing 45mph. The steering is accurate at all speeds. Yes it under steers when you push it but, that is a problem with all FWD. The TC isn't as agile as some other cars like an Civic Si or the Mazda 3. Big pumps or pot holes on the freeway never seem to upset the TC. I drive the freeways in Los Angeles but there are some gnarly roads there. I think it is more noisy than the Civic and Mazda as I remember them during test drives. But I'm not bothered by the noise much. Maybe I'm just used to it. I used to notice some slight vibrations on the driver side window under certain high wind conditions on the freeway the first two years but then this issue went way. Some metal parts under the passenger seat used to make some noise on the freeway, too. Again it went away after a few years. Again, I don't know why or how. LOL. Some people complains about the dark plastic interior. I personally like it. I think it is apt for the car. I hate shinny or chrome accents in the interior because they reflect some ghost images on the windows and windshield. They can be very distracting for the driver; I'm reminded of this recently when I drove two different rental cars. Boy that's just annoying! With the TC interior there's hardly any shinny reflections anywhere in any lighting conditions. It's a relief I tell you. So far the interior of the TC is very durable. Nothing breaks or fades so far. Nothing creeks. Yes, there is road noise but I think that can be fixed with some softer tires as I did. I have looked at used TCs and I think they are totally under rated. There are some good deals to be had. If you are out shopping for a reliable, stable, and fun coupe, I think the TC presents a very good deal. If you like automatics, try to get a TC from 2015 or 2016 (the last year). They have updated transmissions with shift paddles. This transmission if very cool. It's faster and it blips the throttle when downshifting, like sport cars do. Sometimes I wish the TC is a rear wheel drive... more fun at the track or around corners for sure.
