I've had this 2007 XR for about a year and and half now and prior to getting it I worked on it for the previous owner, who got tired of continuous electrical issues to the point he tried to trade it into the very dealers who could not solve these problems (but they did charge him to not fix them). Needless to say, they offered nothing for it, so he gave it to me for free. I parked it for the winter, put it in my garage in early spring and removed connectors and cleaned them, added extra grounds from the battery to the engine, engine to chassis and removed the underhood power distribution block and cleaned all connections. Prior to this, with no rhyme or reason it would show lights on the dash for traction control, stability control security, abs, check engine light, and codes galore for mostly communication problems with various modules. The car has high miles but looks and runs great when it is right, and does not leak any fluids and is very quick, trans shifts flawlessly. The interior is still showroom nice, brown Moroccan leather with heated seats, six disk premium sound, sunroof, 50 series 18" tires, four wheel disks, great climate control and onstar. I added a billet grill, and it has a dark blue exterior that is still in great condition, so I do get comments on how nice it looks. Since all the electrical problems have been solved it h is become a very dependable car, and I would not hesitate driving it anywhere. The 3.6 dohc variable valve timed engine is very responsive, and the six speed auto is seamless and smooth, it does have the paddle shifter too but since I have researched this have decided not to push the trans using this since wave plate issues are common (why ask for trouble)?

If you like spending thousands on repairs, then this is the car for you! Get a Honda or a Toyota instead, even if someone wants to give you this car for free.

This is a great car to Start off with. I never experience a car so clean have everything you wouldn't never expected.
Have not had any major problems with this car. Definitely recommend it. Good first car vehicle. Very reliable.

This car is and has always been a great car. Have never had any real issue other than normal maintenance. Fast, quiet , great handling and so reliable . I've had 18 new cars and actually this is the best one that's why I still have it, just love it and never on drop of any kind of leaks, NONE anywhere anyplace which is a first for me

I am the original owner of my 2008 saturn aura xe 4 cylinder. Yes i had to replace alot of things but nothing that would not be normal wear and tear. This car has only once broke on me which was earlier this year (so its already 13 years old). I do alot of the work on the car myself since it is an older car maintenance is easy if you know what your doing. Now i would say alot of things to replace on this car you need a special size tool. I live in maryland so we do get snow. It can drive through about 6 inches of snow i never tried more than that. I do not plan on getting rid of this car any time soon. Will keep this car forever. Very comfortable for long drives and good on gas even being as old as it is.

I bought this car unaware of specific mechanical issues, but I knew the check engine light was on. Over less than a year of owning it, it’s broken down 5-6 times, and I have had to replace at least 4 parts.
Quality, performance, style

If you are looking for a quality vehicle that also has performance, look no further then the Saturn Aura XR. I have owned this car for over 13 years and it still looks current. Quality workmanship is found in the details, like the soft touch areas ( versus hard plastics on other cars) in areas on the lower dash, where the ignition is for instance. Interior is well laid out and displayed. The 6 speed automatic with manual controls is a blast to drive. The Saturn Aura is a well rounded vehicle that I would definitely recommend.
