Positive Review

"Owning both a Rivian and F-250"

Although a Rivian R1T can be used for towing, moving furniture/appliances, etc., it is a smaller truck than my F-250. Even so, the back seat is very comfortable for two and even three people. The speed and power of the Rivian is unmatched. The sound system is excellent as is the very quiet interior. If you are looking for a “manly” truck that takes a step ladder to enter and has an extra loud exhaust, this is not it (although the adjustable height is useful off-road). If you are looking for a responsive vehicle that has a sweet comfortable ride and can also haul most gear and is great for camping; this is the truck for you.

Critical Review

"Too small"

Trucks need to be big, powerful and manly. This truck looks small and looks like there is no room inside for five or more big guys.

Best vehicle I've ever owned
Pros

Best range for an EV, incredible performance,

Cons

Minimal service locations

Once you drive one of these, all of your other vehicles will feel outdated The fact that you can tow anything you want and also go 0-60 in 3 seconds is a combination that is wild. They also send updates about once per month to add features and improvements in the performance. I've owned 3 other EVs and this is the best yet. Only annoying item is that the closest service center is 2.5 hours away. Luckily I've only needed to take it there twice, other items that have come up have been handled by a mobile unit. Growing pains of a new company.

Owned a Launch edition for over 1 year
Pros

0-60 in 3 seconds flat. can tow up to 11000 lbs.

Cons

non

Fast, strong, and reliable. enough room for 5 average size people. The mobile service is good. Good on the long trips as well as long as you plan the trip. Remember, when the first gasoline cars just came out, people had to go to a grocery store with a bucket to get gasoline. ...so for those who are still crying about charging networks, don't be a baby and use common sense and your brain. Most of the time you charge it at home, like a cell phone at night. In the morning you got over 300 mile range. At the superchargers, you spend no more than 20-30 min on long trips. Also, stop complaining that you want to fill up and go. (like you do :) ) Do you need to eat or go to the bathroom? That's enough time to get at least 100 miles of range. So.. no complaints about this truck. Not to mention, that it is the first vehicle from the brand new company. Tesla is still not anywhere near Rivian on the built quality.

Rivian R1T 10 Months of Owner ship
Pros

Off road, Fast, Nimble, Good mileage, Good Tech

Cons

Apple Car play

My Rivian R1T was delivered in July 9,2022. 8,300 miles. No problems or mechanical issues besides the paint chip and minor adjustment with the front air suspension uneven when parked which was corrected. Other than that I'm very happy with my R1T. My R1S is coming soon. I wish I can keep both Rivian's but can't have my 16y/o drive one of them for their 1st car. Awesome Truck.

Did not expect to feel young again!
Pros

Fast! Etc.

Cons

Distance to service center

This is my 5th pickup truck since 1995. How times have changed. Great truck from a new company. Faster than almost anything on real roads and better off-road than most other vehicles. Owned for almost 1 year and no complaints except distance to service center if needed. I would definitely buy a Rivian again at this point.

Great little truck so far!
Pros

Performance on and off the road

Cons

Lack of cupholders

TL:DR It’s an awesome truck if it meets YOUR particular lifestyle needs. Grew up driving lifted gas and diesel 4x4’s. Became a Toyota family when I met my wife and we owned a 4th gen V8 4Runner and a 3rd gen Tacoma before going electric. Loved them both. We currently have a ‘22 Model Y Performance, ‘11 Sienna and the ‘22 R1T. So based off of my personal vehicle history, the R1T has been my favorite to drive/own. It’s an EV so the maintenance really is low compared to a gas/diesel vehicle. I’ve also been very fortunate to have never owned a lemon or a vehicle I couldn’t wait to get rid of. That said, 5 months of R1T ownership is too short to talk about long term reliability by any means.. but so far, so good! It’s a new product from a new company so there are bound to be issues scattered amongst the tens of thousands of R1s produced. Some have had worse issues than others, but the company does seem to be doing its best to take care of their customers from what I’ve read/heard. We haven’t had any issues with our truck since day one. Because it’s a newer vehicle employing an abundance of technology, most things get better over time. Over The Air (OTA) updates have already vastly improved the driving experience and ownership with a slight increase in range, more app control, security, comfort, performance, convenience, and safety. Towing. Yeah, it’s obviously not a 1 ton dually with a reserve fuel tank. It’s a truck that runs on batteries. So don’t expect to tow your toys, boat, or super sweet travel trailer long distances without making way more stops. Will the R1T tow a huge travel trailer across the country? Yes it will! Is it convenient? No it’s not. The R1T is a great truck for our personal lifestyle and use case. It does everything we ask it to do effortlessly. We still smile pretty much everytime either one of us drives it because it’s just so much fun! We let our neighbor take it for a drive a month ago and he just told me they ordered one last weekend. I recommend doing your research on the specs and see if it (and EV ownership in general) fits your lifestyle. Our truck has been practically flawless so add that datapoint to your research.

Fun to drive and very functional

I have owned it for over 4 months, it has been a great vehicle for daily driving and for running errands. This vehicle exceeded my expectations with its quality build and driving dynamics. Acceleration is exhilarating, it is very maneuverable, fits in the garage just fine, and hauls most everything I need to. It has been the perfect vehicle to live with.

Amazing
Pros

Acceleration, handling, incredibly fun to drive

Cons

Third party charging networks

I've never driven in a car with such smooth acceleration, be it electric or ICE, sports car or truck. At the same time, it's eerily quiet. I can easily talk on the car's bluetooth system without having to raise my voice and I have had people tell me that they didn't even realize I was driving. There were some kinks that Rivian needed to work out (the key fob's delayed responsiveness being the most annoying), but it has gotten better with every update. For those of you wondering about the range, with the standard 21" tires, if I am driving nonstop (which means no long breaks where the battery has to warm up afterwards), I am seeing a range of about 334 miles in conserve mode and 303 in all-purpose mode. The EPA estimates are quite accurate. The vehicle's real-time range estimates are very accurate too--it seems to take into account your driving history and conditions, whereas Tesla's estimates are always too optimistic and only reflect optimal conditions. I've had no mechanical issues, thankfully, and the build quality (delivered in late September) seemed to be excellent without panel gaps or trim issues that perhaps some of the earliest deliveries had. The one time I needed service was when Rivian announced a recall, and they sent out a technician to my home to repair it within days. Amazing! I may never have to take this truck into a shop, at least not for any work that is covered under warranty. All in all, Rivian has exceeded all my expectations. I am patiently waiting for them to expand their charging network on the east coast, which is far from adequate, but I understand that this can't happen overnight and I am willing to put up with third party charging until then!

Best vehicle I ever purchased
Pros

Build quality, customer service, versatility, fun

Cons

Tires

Starting with the company. Their customer service is equivalent to the old LLBean of the auto industry. They are so much better than any dealer as they continue their care for you as a customer long after the sale is made. Their service is unbeatable as they will come right to my home to service the truck unless it needs special attention which requires it to be put on a lift. Now the truck itself… Incredible build quality! Fit and finish, interior finish is exceptional. This truck is POWERFUL with 800+ hp and 900+ foot pounds of torque. The ride experience is varied depending on which mode you select. It can ride like a Corvette giving you a total sports car feel on the road, or like a F-150 which can handle anything I throw at it. Adjustable suspension allows for any situation. With the AT 20 wheels, I am getting 300 +/- miles of range with a 100% charge on Ecco mode. I now have 15000 mikes on it and the only thing I am not crazy about are the stock tires. They are not wearing well and I will be replacing them after 30,000 mi. I
