Which 2021 Chevrolet Silverado is Right for Me?

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a pickup for all seasons. With many powertrains, including turbo 4-cylinder, turbodiesel inline-6, a 4.3-liter V6, and a couple of V8s, the Silverado is ready to work and play. There are many choices of trims, cab configurations, and bed lengths. We like the short-bed crew cab set-up, but if you want a standard length box, add $300 to the price.

Redesigned last year, the Silverado continues to offer upgrades, most notable the multi-function tailgate introduced at a GMC exclusive. Towing ability is also greatly enhanced, with a rating of up to 13,000 pounds possible thanks to the turbodiesel’s introduction. Silverado is also equally adept off-road with its Trail Boss trim that comes on Custom and LT models. This package includes a 2-inch factory lift kit, the Z71 off-road suspension, and an engine upgrade in the higher trim.

Prices start at $36,110 for the relatively bare-bones Silverado Work Truck. Custom models add a few more features, but for the amenities that you’d expect in a passenger car, we suggest starting at the LT trim, which ranges between $43,595 and $45,985. You can even go even more upscale with the LTZ, which starts at nearly $55,000, or the flagship High Country which closes in on $60,000.

Our choice here is the street-oriented RST trim level. It has a great appearance thanks to its black exterior accent trim LED fog lamps and taillights and keyless entry and start. The RST ranges in price from $44,795 to $47,195. It offers the option of turbo 4-cylinder power, the muscular 3.0-liter turbodiesel, or either the 5.3- or 6.2-liter V8. Add destination fees of $1,565 to all models.
