"Daily driver, camper and occaisional cargo hauler"

I got a smoking deal on this van $20500 Canadian dollars. I get great fuel economy and it has all the power I need. I bought this to create my own VW Microbus camper that I could use every day. I love it. The only criticism is the tranny can shift a little clunky due to the shifting dogs in the 9spd. The throttle can hesitate while it hunts for a gear. The ZF transmission is known for this, but it doesn't seem to effect it's reliability; it is more of a characteristic of how it shifts. It rides well and is very configurable. I got such a great deal on it. If drives nice, but the seats are just so-so. Handles well for a van and has lots of options for a cargo van. I hit an eagle on a trip and it dented the roof. I live in hail country so I hope I never get hit by that. I got a great deal on it, but I'd have gladly spent $2000 more just to get the same vehicle.

Runs Great
Pros

gas mileage, Ride good

Cons

GPS Tomtom joke, and the Drum brake on rear

Runs Great , 30.8 mile freeway on a 400 mile trip. going 65/75 mile hour. Tires still in good shape with 40 thousand miles ware. Ram replace engine because of recall oil consumption old engine ran Great and the New engine also runs Great with no oil consumption. The only thing about this truck could be improved is the GPS Tomtom. Sucks. works but not user friendly. Great pickup for a Van getting on and off the freeway. ride good, Heats good . I like the Van wish the bench seat could be remove for more room when hauling large items. This Van smokes the Ford Transit. Way better Van than the ford.

Worst Work Vehicle I've Ever Owned
Pros

NONE!

Cons

Unreliable. Constantly BROKE!

My 2018 Ram Promaster has a total of 45, 400 miles. I purchased it new. Here are the issues I've had in 45, 000 miles: -Engine had to be replaced -NEW engine constantly clicks on "check engine" light. Dealership gave up trying to figure it out. -A/C failed after approx. 6 hours of usage -ALL rear door hinges FAILED and needed to be replaced -Cargo lights FAILED. -Running Lights work....Sometimes. -Battery Failed -Rear / Front suspension is WRECKED. I baby this vehicle and still am looking at a $3,8000 repair bill. -Rear "Barn Door" hinge is failing, AGAIN. That'll be another $400 approx. to fix. Overall, this is JUNK. Money Pit. Waste of $25,000. Ram should be ashamed of themselves.

Far from the best vehicle ever
Pros

??????

Cons

Always in the repair shop

I bought the Promaster City because it has the most cargo room of all the small vans and I wanted to save on fuel cost. But the repair cost has offset any fuel savings. 1. This Fiat engine uses a lot of oil. (Usually 2 quarts added between 5000 mile oil change).. 2.The engine has stalled out several times, several engine components have needed to be replaced. (Alternator, fuel pump, piston rings, Blown head gasket, electric sensors). 3.Now I am having to replace the long block assembly due to the engine having no compression. Only 83,000 on current engine. 4.unless Ram gives you a better warranty than 30,000 miles, I would not buy this van.

Poorly Built

Use a Promaster for plumbing. I have a lot of equipment in the back which will press up on the door. This triggers the “door open” sensor and makes it so the van can’t lock its doors. I don’t want to take certain jobs in fear of someone stealing equipment or the whole van. You’re not able to turn this off because of a department of transportation rule. I don’t understand why you would design it like this. I can put regular locks on the cargo doors but the cab itself can’t lock which defeats the purpose of having the locks on the back. Incredibly frustrating.

Over the road promaster
Pros

Good on gas and tight turning radius capability

Cons

Downshifting while going down grades to soon forme

This is my 3rd Promaster, averaging around 120,000 per year. Good on gas for such a big vehicle average of 17.5mpg. Rear view camera is a great option to have since I don't have rear windows or sliding door windows. Looking forward to my next one early in 2022

OK from point A to B for very short drives
Pros

cargo access, floor tie downs, cargo lighting,

Cons

Uncomfortable, blind spots, Uconnect3

I have the base model supplied by my company and have driven it 2000 miles in 3 weeks. iPhone does not stay connected to hear the navigation audio or phone calls UConnect3 with no navigation no apple car play. The cup holders are useless except to hold my phone, cups fit too tight and the power ports are between the two cup holders which are very low in the console. you'll need another solution if you like to have a drink handy while you drive. The seats I have are manual and vinyl so because the A/C is not very effective the seats are a sweat conduit...only an issue because I have nowhere safe to put my water yet. The seats are will take some time to find a comfort spot, the lumbar support seems kind of high up fo me more like the lower to middle of my back. The A/C blows cold only when accelerating, on a 95degree day it won't keep up with the heat radiated through the large windows. The blind spots although greatly reduced by the added convex mirrors are still a major hazard, avoid any angled intersection where traffic comes from the right, the windows, the pillar and the separation barrier allow no view of the intersection beyond straight across the road. Its worse than my old full sized Ford Van. The cargo section is great if only the lights would stay on longer, the lights are very nice and its well lit for the first few seconds. Fuel economy is good when the van is lightly loaded, with about 1,000 lbs of tools and 190 lb driver my highway fuel economy in the urban areas runs about 22mpg with the AC running and average speed as indicated on the dash of 43 mph, so plan on filling every 300 miles or so. If I had a choice this would not be my selection, at around 27,000 its not a great value for the money. A comfortable work vehicle for those who drive a lot is like a good pair of shoes. This is not that good pair of shoes.
