The 2024 Porsche Panamera marks a new generation of this large luxury car with more than a dash of driver appeal. Pricing starts at $101,550.
There’s always something special about a German flagship model. They’re invariably fast, super-luxurious, loaded with tech, spacious, plush, and just oozing prestige. We’ve just described the Panamera. The thing about the Panamera, though, is that it’s made by Porsche, legendary builders of highly desirable sports cars. So there’s that duality of a comfortable cruiser that can still be engaging for a driver. Think of it as two cars in one, which might help justify the high-class price.
People who really understand the Panamera think it’s well worth the money. Our consumer reviews have given the previous generation high scores, and 98% of reviewers would recommend it. The new Panamera certainly looks capable of retaining and probably raising such high standards.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of large luxury sedans, including the Porsche Panamera.
A totally fresh generation (the third gen for those counting) of Panamera debuts for this model year. It comes with more power, four new hybrid powertrains, improved ride and handling, and plenty of tech. Many of our editors were saddened to learn the wagon-like Sport Turismo body style has been discontinued for this new generation.
The 2024 Porsche Panamera has a starting sticker price of $101,550, with the range-topping Panamera 4 kicking off at $108,550. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $7,820 to $7,936 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

For some context, the Audi A8 starts at about $89K, the BMW 7 Series is priced from $96.4K, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class begins at around $116K, Lexus LS comes in at almost $81K, and the Genesis G90 starts in the $90K region.

The Panamera usually retains its value better than any other large luxury car. We suspect this new generation will do the same.
The entry-level Panamera has a turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 developing 348 horsepower, which can send the car zipping from standstill to 60 mph in five seconds, or 4.7 seconds with all-wheel drive aiding traction in the Panamera 4. For comparison, the BMW 740i has 375 horsepower and hits 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The combustion heart of the range-topping Turbo E-Hybrid, the third model included in the initial rollout, is a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. It makes a total of 670 horsepower, enabling a ballistic 0-60 mph time of about three seconds.
In all, Porsche will be offering four drivetrains employing plug-in hybrid technology as it rounds out its 2024 Panamera offerings. Among them will be the most affordable of the PHEVs, the 4 E-Hybrid. It will use the 2.9-liter V6 engine, mating it with an electric motor. It makes 463 horsepower producing a zero-to-60 dash of around 3.9 seconds.
No matter the model or number of drive wheels, every 2024 Panamera is armed with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
An air suspension is standard, so the new Panamera can do comfort as well as it does speed. The plug-in hybrids also offer a more sophisticated active suspension for a wider range of cushioning or connection. It keeps the car flat, eliminating body roll through fast corners, and preventing any pitching under heavy braking or hard acceleration. A rear-wheel steering system is another Panamera option, improving agility and maneuverability even further.
Of the three models Porsche offers during Panamera’s 2024 launch, only the Panamera 4 has a city-and-highway mixed driving government mileage estimate: 21 mpg (18 city and 25 highway). For 2023, the rear-wheel-drive Panamera posted the same mileage as the all-wheel-driver Panamera 4. To date, the EPA is also silent regarding the 2024 Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid; however, we expect it to be around 48 MPGe. The Panamera 4’s mileage is on the lower end of its segment’s average. In other words, most competitors deliver at least slightly better fuel economy. You can find the latest mileage information on the Panamera and its rivals at the EPA website.
Porsche keeps switchgear to a minimum in the new 2024 Panamera. Some functions have migrated onto screens, and the car comes with a 12.6-inch digital driver information display as standard. An optional 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger is not visible to the driver. The high center console gives a cockpit-like ambiance, underlining the company’s sporting heritage. Naturally for a luxury car, there’s also a cosseting side. Porsche says it has improved the quality of the Panamera’s seat foam (although we never felt the outgoing model was lacking in this respect), and makes leather-free upholstery available for the first time. Other little touches include finless air vents that can be preset along with preferred climate settings.
With a design more evolutionary than revolutionary, the new Panamera isn’t going to shock any onlookers. That’s fine by us. We like how it evokes the famed 911 sports car. The headlights are clearly different this time around, with matrix-LED technology as standard. And we think the taillights are cool — forming an unbroken bar from one side to the other. Unlike its conventional sedan competitors, the Panamera has a hatchback. That brings some cargo-carrying versatility while still keeping a sleek roof line.
Active Drive
Available only on the Panamera PHEVs, this active independent suspension employs two-valve dampers and air springs at each wheel, making adjustments at the rate of 13 per second to maximize ride comfort and handling dynamics. Non-hybrid models get their own, less-advanced adaptive suspension.
Dual Displays
Porsche jettisoned its analog cluster to accommodate a 12.6-inch curved driver-information display and a 12.3-inch central display/touchscreen.
Panoramic Roof
Porsche jettisoned its analog cluster to accommodate a 12.6-inch curved driver-information display and a 12.3-inch central display/touchscreen.
Rear-Wheel Steering
Available rear-wheel steering delivers additional stability at higher speeds by turning in the same direction as the front wheels. At slower speeds, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction of the front wheels, enhancing agility.
Advanced Safety Tech
Standard in every Panamera model: front/rear park assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-change assist (blind-spot monitoring), automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition.
Proximity Keyless Entry
We have come to really appreciate this feature that allows the vehicle to automatically unlock when the key fob is on your person. This means, you don’t need to fish around in a pocket or purse for the key fob as you approach the vehicle. In the Panamera, it also includes the hands-free rear liftgate.
The base engine in the new Panamera is a turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 making 348 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. That’s a boost of 23 horsepower and 37 lb-ft over its predecessor. Rear-wheel drive is standard here, with all-wheel drive available as an option. The first plug-in hybrid setup that Porsche is introducing in its latest luxury car is the Turbo E-Hybrid, generating a massive 670 horsepower and 685 lb-ft of torque. Porsche also claims that electric-only ranges will be better than before, the previous maximum being 19 miles. Every Panamera has an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Porsche’s new-vehicle and powertrain warranties last four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Roadside assistance is also included at the same terms. This is all typical for a luxury European marque. High-voltage batteries in the plug-in hybrid models are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. Porsche also offers a complimentary first service at 10,000 miles or one year.
No third-party agency has safety rated the Porsche Panamera; however, it comes with an array of advanced safety tech, like front-rear park assist, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and more.
We don't have consumer reviews for this vehicle.
