Positive Review
I can’t say enough about my 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP-I found this car at 38,325 miles in Dec 2015. I soon realized that is wasn’t even broken in yet. From the power to the handling to the style and especially the look it has not been disappointing. I had a 04 Grand Prix GTP but this 303 hp engine is nicknamed ‘The Beast’ and thats exactly what it is. It also has heads up display, tap shifting and seat warmers. It’s comfy and classy as well as sporty. I have def blown away brand new Audi’s and Chargers at the start and they didn’t know what hit them.... In my opinion Pontiac made a mistake by not making more-the production rate on my black beauty is only 2,000. It’s def one of a kind and a kick to drive!
Critical Review
This car has been good to me over the past 8 years, however it does have some sort of electrical issues where I am changing my light bulbs in my blinkers at least 3 times a year. I've dealt with coolant leaking as well in the past.

3.8 n/a In this day and age stay far away from these money pits. 150k miles bought it already having a transmission issue. Which got worse, Complete money pits, horrid value, performance, Nothing but problems with these cars biggest regret of a purchase and maintenance costs i think i will ever have in my life.
Affordable performance in a comfortable sedan layout.
Undesirable coolant issued and transmission issues common with smallest lapse in maintenance and care.
Owning the V6 base model, I have found that the 3800 is an amazing engine that happens to always be connected to mediocre cooling systems and transmission. The transmission issues even more noticeable with the V8. But with proper maintenance and some close watch to the coolant system, the car quickly becomes a comfortable sedan that sports some fun torque when needed. If ‘comfortably affordable and affordably comfortable’ was a car, it’d be this one. The 3800 V6 in these cars will almost always outlive everything else in them.
5 star car , had a 2004 grand prix ran for 305,200 miles. Still was running. Used less than a quart of oil in 3000 miles. No engine or transmission problems. Had to replace oil pan , rack and pinion , still had original plugs and wires. Car totalled in wreck.
Sporty power and acceleration, Unmatched reliabilt
Over 15 years ownership and regular maintenance even some missed maintenance, 201k miles and still under 2400 in repairs. And still going strong. This car is one for you. 10/10 recommendation.
It's fast and handles the road really well
It's starting to make rattling noises.
I bought this car in 2004. I've had it for 20 years. It has been by one of the best cars I've owned. It's fun to drive and can pass just about any thing going up a steep hill. I never had to put money into it other than basic maintenance. GM out did themselves with this one.
very reliable
passenger side mirror is compromised.
My grand prix is very economical, 22 mpg in town and 28 on highway. Cold air conditioning, good brakes, handles great and is good on tires. Has new battery and 1 year old radiator. Seats are in fair condition with no tears. wheels are good and over all body is in good condition. Front end has a has small damage where a pick up truck backed into it. Size is 2 7/8 ball that was on rear bumper. Drives smooth, motor and transmission are good. If you drive aggressively the transmission will slip a bit. Drive normally and you will never have any problems. Car has turbo and getting on to freeway is easily done.
Very good Vehicle and fuel mileage for a V8 awesom
Do not buy this talk wheelbearings go with Timkin
I have 2 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP’s and if you do the maintenance up keep on a regular basis these cars are awesome when replace the wheel bearings go with Timken bearings not the stock they don’t last worth a darn. The transmission had to be rebuilt on one of them at 110,000 miles the other one is around 140,000 miles was well worth it they get great fuel mileage if they’re tuned up correctly on my 2007 Grand Prix GXP I have a round 19 to 21 miles around town I’ve gotten as high as 32 on the highway the 2006 Grand Prix GXP gets around 16 day 18 around town and about 27 on the highway when my wife goes back-and-forth to the grocery store a lot so that’s why the fuel mileage is lower around town use the new E3 plugs spark plugs that is with Taylor wires really improve the performance of the cars that’s about all I got to say interior is great The exterior is great on both cars I keep them up they look brand new basically people can’t believe they are as old as they are that’s about all I’ve got to say!
Fun for a V6
They don't make them anymore!
I have had this car for seven years now. It has been the best car. There has been no major issues aside from needing a timing cover gasket replacement. It has its original transmission that has needed no work, and same for the engine. Regular maintenance goes a long way on these cars!
