"Love this car"

I bought this car as the 3rd owner a little over 3 years ago & I have only had 1 mechanical failure b/c the ignition switch needed to be replaced. GM sent out a recall notice about having too many keys on your key ring approximately 18 months later. I absolutely love this car, even get decent gas mileage. It rides really nice on Rt 81 doing about 80 miles/hour on my way to WVa to see my g'friend's step-mom. I REALLY wish they still made them!!!

"repairs on poorly designed parts"

2000 Pontiac Grand AM Se2: bought used in 2003 with 45K, 2008 and now has 93K. First 4 years I put on 30K and last 1.5 years has been 18K. Repairs: water pump/serpentine 50K, intake manifold gasket replaced at 55K (expensive), battery at 56K, intermittent blinker (recalled) 67K, radio display went out 68K (did not repair), 4 tires at 73K, front wheel bearing/hub assembly at 75K, front rotars and pads. Also had to replace both side mirros, washer fluid tank, and all four window regulators (stupid plastic parts). I'll give GM the battery, rotars/pads...maybe water pump, but c'mon with the gasket, wheel bearings and stupid, cheap plastic parts. transmission is slipping on rare occasions in shifting from 2nd to 3rd, great! mechanic can't seem to replicate and can't find a problem. time will tell. Oh another thing, mysterious coolant leaks. reservoir has emptied on two occasions (63K and 86K)...not a slow drain either. the puddles were easy to spot but the leak not so much. FYI, i drive to preserve my car for as long as possible and follow all routine maintenance. Fair car at best IMO. I don't know what the first 45K miles were like, but the last 48K have been a bit rough. I'm going to run it into the ground as long as it doesn't break my wallet in doing so. Will never buy another Pontiac.

every thing i dreamed it would be. would buy again
Pros

so fun and sporty to drive yet reasonable price

Cons

no cons. best cah evah !!!!

i first saw a picture of my car in a grand am magazine that came to me as a current grand am owner. it was a silver grand am gt model with a sporty hood and spoiler not readily available on the models in my area. for a year i carried that picture around showing it to sales people at dealerships and seeing if they could get me that exact car.no luck but i never gave up.finally one weekend we stopped at bezema pontiac and showed my picture to the sales man.he assured me he could get me the car no problem.just give him a couple of days to find it.shocked we left him our contact info and went home to wait.not too many days later he called to say he had found one and he would call me when it arrived.it came from long island up to massachusetts.when i saw the car it was love at first sight.after the test drive i knew i wasnt leaving without it. my grand am gt has been my faithful dependable reliable knight in shining armor for the past 18 years.would buy the exact same car again if they still made it.

Rusty, but reliable when everything is broken.
Pros

Plenty of torque, good on a back road, and reliabl

Cons

Rust.

The car sounds fairly good and has a nice power band. Not really really good in the snow unless you have snow tires on it. Almost everything is broken in some way shape or form but it still runs better than ever and has more personality than I will ever have
