Positive Review

"Love this car!"

Loved this car since I saw it on the dealer floor. Only problem was had to replace Camshaft exhuast wire harness @ 75,000. Was under extended warrenty. Love driving it and handles great on ice and snow. Only complaint is cup holder in front. Elbow its cups in holder. When it's time to replace, I'm going to cry!

Critical Review

"In the Shop All the Time!"

I was drawn to this car by the looks alone, and when test driven was shocked at the sportyness and bought it without reserching, oops! It was used, a Hertz rental with only 30K miles and a year old. I had to take it back five days later because the coolant light came on, and it needed its rutien 3K oil change that they neglected to tell me. Then just a few weeks later the coolant light was on again and the engine had started knocking. They filled the coolant and said that the knocking was from a hose and that it couldn't be fixed. Then two weeks later the coolant light was on again, this time they said I needed to go buy some coolant and keep it in my trunck and fill when needed!! Yes so not happy! I took it back a few weeks later and this time they did a die test and found that one of the hoses was leaking, which they replaced. On the drive home from this visit my steering gave out, I turned it off then on again and drove a few feet and it locked again, and once more. They towed it and they had to replaced the whole steering column. Every month I had to take the car back for the coolant light until finally a year after purchace they replaced my whole engine because the coolant was leaking into the engine and mixing with the oil! Hence why the coolant was low all the time. Not something I think would need to be done on a car with only 40K on it. Now only three months later my engine light is on and they say that the engine is getting too much air and not enough gas!! So needless to say it is getting traded in as soon as they fix this problem and I would never ever recomend this car to anyone who actaully wants to drive there car more then seeing it in the shop. While at the dealership service department there are normally one or more G6 or G5's also being serviced for issues. On the possitive; very sporty, very comfy inside and that is it.

Lol

The car gave me nothing but issues. First it’s the 1-2 shift solenoid and then the steering locking up. If you have an aftermarket rim on there that still even works for your car, you’ll still be replacing wheel bearings every couple months lmaoo GARBAGE vehicle.

Great Car!
Pros

Sturdy, Reliable, Drives Easily and Smoothly, Comfortable

Cons

Mileage - We average at 27 mpg, so it’s not bad but lower than modern sedans

I’ve had my 2010 Pontiac G6 since 2011, and it’s still going! It’s a very durable car, feels more sturdy than a lot of the brand new cars nowadays. A deer ran out in front of my husband on the highway in 2021 and he smacked it good with the front. Amazingly, the car still drove fine despite the front being smashed in, the only thing that was not usable after was the headlights. Since it was Covid times, we had to wait 8 weeks before we could get it in to the repair shop (we live in a rural area as well), and the car did fantastic while we waited. We’ve never had any major issues with it. I take it in for regular maintenance- oil change, tire rotation, the usual, but I’ve never had to replace anything major. We are trying to keep the car as long as possible, it’s currently at 180,000 miles but based on other reviews it looks like it will continue to go for a while!

Best car I’ve ever owned

It’s not even close. It is now 2024, and our 2008 G6 has 310,000 miles on it. It’s a 3.5liter. Has always been quick, handles great, and has severed us well. Kids both learned to drive in it, and my 22-year-old uses it as a daily driver. I don’t care what any of the ratings says, this car has been awesome! Pontiac is missed!!

ok for your first car

Got the car from my cousin at a good price. But didn't realize how much of a problem the car would be. The first issue was the control arms on both side. After getting that fix. Then it was the rotors, motor m and more problems. Spend a lot money trying to get the car in good conditions.
