Positive Review

"Wonderful value"

I've owned this car for 20 years and it's required very few repairs of consequence. [I had to replace the AC a few years ago, but that's about it.] It has been highly reliable for 2 decades. I've always gotten 30-31 mpg on the highway -- better than most cars made today. Leather interior is critical to keep the car looking like new. I wish Pontiac was still in business. I would buy another.

VS

Critical Review

"not too good"

I've owned this vehicle for three years and it has been a money pit. 've has to replace the power steering, the entire A/C unit, alternator, water pump. Today something broke in the steering The wheel turns but nothing happens. Something broke in the linkage. Thank goodness it happened while I was pulling out of my driveway. Several other minor things were wrong like the power antenna, rear window defroster, headliner was coming down, The one good thing was the basic engine. After 195,000 miles it only burned a little oil. I bought a Nissan Sentra today. This one is going to the junk yard.

One of the best cars I ever owned
Pros

Reliable and stylish also not bad performance.

Cons

Pontiac is no longer

These Pontiac Bonneville's are very reliable easy on maintenance. If something breaks it is a cheap part to buy. They have good power for the now and back then would stay with a Mustang GT it was excitement definitely not boring. Long live Pontiac in our memory.

Great car

High desert conditions are tough on everything, especially cars. We got this car used but it has been one of the most reliable cars I've ever driven. Overall I would have to say it's one of the best cars I've ever driven. The only reason we are selling it is because we cannot afford to replace the rack and pinion steering.

Fantastic feature-filled reliable car!
Pros

Comfort, features, full gauges, fun to drive

Cons

Cupholders are either too big or too small to fit!

Have owned the car for about 1 year now, and could not be any more satisfied with it. Amazing comfort from the 21-way power leather seats, probably one of the most comfortable car seats you can buy! So many modern features for a 1997 car, such as a HUD and rear accessory air compressor! Adjustable shift modes and suspension ride height and feel are a few of the many features the car has. Has been rock-solid reliable for me, never left me stranded! *Very inexpensive & easy to maintain. Delivers great performance from the supercharged V6! Very quick and fun to drive, great touring car for those windy roads! Smooth ride as well. Keep in mind, the SSEi trim level requires premium fuel, but it is well worth it! Overall it's a well-designed car well little-to-none complaints from me. And in 2020 and beyond, the SSEi is a great car all around for the value!

It's an old car be prepared for things to go out
Pros

Price, sturdy, comfortable seats

Cons

Parts go out and flimsy plastic interior

Bought my Bonneville for $1.8k with around 80k miles and had minor engine leaks to be fixed and then drove wonderfully for 2 years, only visiting the the shop for a bad fuel pump, oil changes and occasional spark plug issues. Once it hit 90k miles there's been an intermittent starting issue and when I took it into the shop to have it fixed the same engine leaks came up with new issues totalling around $2.5k. I decided to invest since I loved the car so much but only to find out that there are more hidden issues to it not starting occasionally. I love it but I can't invest any more money into a car that isn't reliable.
