Positive Review

"Saves on gas and puts a smile on my face"

Quality materials throughout - I opted for the Nappa leather. Stellar performance, handling is crisp and responsive, acceleration comes on fast with plenty of power to overtake other cars - I opted for the Performance Pack. Great infotainment controls via Google. Addition of Vivaldi web browser is excellent during charging etc., can play computer games via Stadia, videos via YouTube, Disney+, etc. Looks good but fairly minimalistic, it still looks athletic and has some Swedish design queues. Range is good at 240 miles on a full charge for me, averaging around 37 m/kw. For the price would have been nice to get some front seat messagers, but heated/ventilated leather is nice enough. 4 months into owning no issues to report.

Critical Review

"Very Poor MPGe"

This car is an absolute nightmare. It can barely make it past 120 miles on the highway or in the winter due to a faulty heat pump. And don't even get me started on the promised range of 270 miles that has never been achieved. Despite driving this car for 16,000 miles, it has been nothing but a constant source of frustration. I tried to sell it, but the Polestar dealers have been entirely unresponsive, ignoring my emails and phone calls. This is unacceptable customer service and a clear indication that they do not value their customers or stand behind their product.

Polestar KNOWS they have a defective product
Pros

Styling

Cons

Reliability, build quality, service, support

I bought my car used back in August 2024. I was very excited to get this car thinking it's a semi-luxury brand with excellent performance and driving characteristics. Since August 2024, I've had my car in the shop 4 times. This car has defective parts that Polestar WILL NOT admit to and will not honor coverage after warranty runs out. Primarily, the front suspension design and components are sheer garbage. Clunking, wooden plank feel, constant creaking and clunking when turning. The rear motor constantly clunks and makes a nasty thumping sound when moving off the line. The software and infotainment is developed and coded by children it's so bad. On top of all that, the service and support are absolutely abysmal. FOUR TIMES I've taken my car in during the last 7 months. My last service lasted 1.5 months....where the car sat outside in the elements and was worked on literally for a day or so. The service center did more damage than anything else...they couldn't even put a door card back properly without breaking clips and they gave the car back to me like that. The suspension clunking and bearings ARE STILL an issue even though Polestar claims they have solved it. They have not. And they flat out stated they cannot help beyond what they already have done. I mean...that's beyond pathetic. This is an almost $70k car originally. It's embarrassing for Polestar to treat their customers like this and not be able to fix mechanical or software issues in this day and age. Absolutely pathetic. I am going to try and lemon this vehicle if I can. Because once the warranty runs out, this car is a HUGE liability.

Great Car, Despite Minor Quirks
Pros

Power, Technology, Audio System, Unique Design,

Cons

Tight Interior, Expensive, Average Range, Laggy Display

I’ve had my Polestar 2 for a year and a half now. It’s made me wish I went electric sooner. The car itself is very fun to drive, and is confident on the road. The ride is on the firmer side, but generally handles well. It has more power than I’ll ever need. Energy efficiency is decent, but I can generally exceed its ratings with good driving. I love the stereo and all of the technology. My car is my space to relax and enjoy myself, and it’s definitely great for that. My only complaints is just one cup holder out in the open up front, and a bit tight of a space for the driver. If you like a cockpit-feel, this car is great for you. It can definitely feel cozy at times.

Technical Disaster
Pros

Fast

Cons

Too many technical errors

This car has more problems than it has pros. Buttons with no function. No simple or easy way to solve connectivity issues. Weird user interface, with little to no apps that improve the experience. You're better off using the Bluetooth function over apple car play because it doesn't function well. Fan speeds for defrost change automatically but you have to manually enter the climate controls in order to adjust. Only USB C ports so now if anyone is interested that doesn't have usb c to usb c cables will have to buy them. (Why bother having a usb a to usb c right?) Overall the inside materials seem high quality but get dirty relativity quick. Terrible viewing out of the rear view window. Its narrow and confined shortening visuals. Once One Pedal drive and Creep mode is turned off, it begins to drive like a real car should. (I can trail brake on my own, so thanks but no thanks.)

Love every bit of polestar
Pros

Just a pleasant car to drive and sit in

I got polestar for its design. It is an elegant car with high quality audio system and driving experience. I am especially impressed by the safety features. Inherited from its Volvo sister, polestar just feels very safe to drive with many protective features. The seat belt will tighten up when it detects objects moving fast toward you. The drive is very quiet, smooth and relaxing. For people live in cities, service isn’t an issue.

Everything I’d hoped it would be
Pros

Quality, style, drivability, reliability, speed.

Cons

Fewer service centers than most cars.

This car is comfortable, well-made, versatile (thanks to fastback design), and an absolute joy to drive. Over 18k miles in and not an issue or complaint.

Pros

fast reliable well built and its got Volvo DNA

Cons

small back/rear window

It drives like its on tracks, easy charge plus I charged at 150 KWHs and we charge at home and it is a 75 KWHs battery, always easy to add apps updates are easy to install, great google auto interaction plus Waze etc. frunk is big, trunk has a lower level too. very strong interior and our white paint work has pearl in the paint. We would buy a second Polestar 2 but I own a Rivian.

Style + Performance
Pros

Styling, performance, cool factor, dependability

Cons

Some areas of quality, service centers, app

Pros: gorgeous design, comfortable interior, drives great for such a heavy car, good performance in the snow, range is over 280 miles when the weather is good, has been reliable for the 13 months I’ve owned it so far Cons: multiple interior rattles, Volvo service center either doesn’t know how to work on these cars or doesn’t want to, iPhone app is garbage and hasn’t improved in over a year that I have owned this car, Polestar more concerned with launching new models than adding support and features to the 2s that are on the road

A great car to buy used.
Pros

Great interior, Fun to drive

Cons

lack of media input options.

I bought mine off a leasing company which saved me around $18,000 (car had 12k miles on it when I bought it). This is my second EV, and though it's not as efficient as the BOLT that I owned, it does have twice the power, so it's understandable. I have the Plus package with upgraded and ventilated seats. I looked at one with the cloth seats and the upgraded leather makes a big difference in these cars. I'm getting 200+ miles of mixed driving range in the winter (PA) with 90% max charging. Not great but more than I need for my daily use. I do all my charging at home. I have an ICE car I use for long trips. I should mention I have the dual motor too. This car is well planted in the corners despite its odd height. It may not be as fast as other EV's out there, but 400hp and 460lb torq is more than adequate. This is the fastest stopping 4-door anything that I've ridden in. There are a few design choses I find odd, like the ride height. Polestar must be hearing about it though because they will start selling lower springs for it in 2023. It's not the prettiest car from the outside, but the open-pore wood, mood lighting, and Nappa leather inside looks great. I did drive one with the entry level grey seats and I did not like it, but to each their own. Only 1 easily accessible cupholder for the front reminds me of European cars of the past. The door panels have plenty of space for aluminum water bottles, so that makes up for it a bit. I rarely have more than a 1 water bottle with me, so it doesn't bother me. My biggest issue with this car is the input for media. There isn't any besides streaming or bluetooth. My Bolt had Andriod auto which made playing music stored on my phone more convenient as I could use the screen to navigate the media. If you use satilite radio, Spotify, or Youtube Music this won't be an issue for you as the car does have Android Automotive and you can stream without the use of a phone. The navigation works without a paired phone too, which is shockingly NOT a given these days. The car DOES have plenty of charge points with type-c connection and lots of digital storage so I surmise this issue could be solve with software. I have had no interaction with Polestar Services or Dealerships so can't give any opinions there. In short, if you're looking to buy used, I think this is an excellent daily driver. Probably not a great long hauler. But if you're like most Americans, you have more than 1 car in your driveway anyways. The EV market is growing every year, but if you don't like SUV's your options are still very limited. This car provides solid build quality with an excellent interior (in higher trims) paired with fun and competent driving characteristics.
