Positive Review
This has been a great car. At nearly 180K mi, everything still runs well. I change the oil religiously every 3000 mi. I finally have had to replace the starter (at 177K mi) and need to replace shocks and struts (still the original ones). I replaced the computer module at 150K mi. I replaced spark plugs and wires at 130K mi. The only flaw is that the car goes through brakes fairly fast. This could be due to my wife's driving habits (she brakes hard at the last minute). Plan to keep this car an replace things as required. There is no reason that I can't get 300K mi. out of this car.
Critical Review
2nd Grand Voyager I have owned. Comfortable, good handling, practical with reasonable miles per gallon. Nice mini van for the money. You and your family will enjoy it and find it a useful addition to your life..Carry a ton of groceries, a bunch of kids or a fairly comfortable road trip..EXCEPT for one little negative, the transmission! Going on my third tranny in 8 years of normal speed day to day driving. The engine is a winner and most of these are junked with the original engine still running reliably.. The tranny is all electric and WILL fail at some time if you own one... ALWAYS use ONLY ATF 4 ..NEVER DEX/MERC!! Do not believe even a tranny shop that says all fluid is alike, it is crucial to the life of this transmission to use ONLY ATF 4. Also suggest annual transmission filter/fluid change. Besides that I think it is a nice little van for the money. If all else is OK maybe the cost of a transmission every 2-3 years is acceptable. Still cheaper than buying another car. Just my .02 cents RAS

It's very smooth and capable to drive.
Cosmetic issues are it's only drawback
This van has cosmetics issues like fading paint, a minor tear in the side of the front left seat, and a hairline crack in the dashboard. That said, it has been the most reliable vehicle for 20 years. - It gets 19 miles to the gallon. - It's a one-owner car. - It has a perfect service record. - It's a low mileage car (193000) for its age. - It comes with all-season tires on custom rims as well as snow tires on factory rims.
Starts every time, comfortable and easy to work on
Gas mileage per gallon is less desirable
I wrecked a a Durango totalling it out and needed something reliable to and from work. A friend's of mine has a relative who owns an auto shop and had this sitting in their lot with title issues. I offered to pay for those issues as a different payment and agreed to pay $600 and I was in this vehicle in two weeks all it needed was a radiator and a better battery. It starts and runs better than any used vehicle that I've ever owned bar none. Doesn't burn oil and no warning lights on the dash what's so ever! Rides smooth and only thing I can say negative about it is there fuel miles per gallon under 20 in City and close on hwy but the tank is big enough for long haul trips. Tire package too! My Durango didn't have that! Very pleased with this I got with 225k miles.
Everything.
They dont make them amy more.
330,000 miles on the original engine with NO major work ever done. Original transmission lasted 320,000 miles. The most versatile car I have ever owned and a very comfortable long-range car. And it just passed DEQ again! Its never failed in 19 years! It was rear-ended by a drunk while it was sitting in front of my house which knocked the rear axel off. I had a used axel thrown on and have put another 45,000 miles on it, so far. What more can I say?
started every time
looked horrible
It used to be driven about 20 mi. every day. I can count on one hand the times it let me down. The vehicle lacked power slightly. Interior comfort was fair.
Good family & work vehicle. Lots of space inside.
Finding parts can be a challenge.
My family has owned this vehicle since it was new, and it has been very good to us. This is Michigan, so the winters are hard on us, including the van, but it has come through. And the repairs (when parts wore out) have been very reasonable (compared to today's vehicles). I will miss it.
Reliable; excellent handling.
Basic upkeep required - know your car!
I inherited this car from my mother, who bought it new in 98. She had 150,000 miles at that time, and in the 100,000+ miles we've clocked in together, I've grown to love this old machine. Handling is excellent on windy roads; braking is incredible for her age; ride is relatively smooth, if squeaky at times (suspension hasn't needed replacement yet!); turning radius is absolutely superior. Only possible downside I can think of is that you need to know your car, and keep up with maintenance as necessary. Check your oil; listen for unusual sounds in the engine; etc. Any other "con" that I've experienced is just a product of a well-loved old van.
Engine Runs Forever!
Transmission
I inherited my 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager in 2013. It had 12,000 original miles. My grandfather hardly used it. I am now at 80,000 miles, any I only had to change my Brakes, and Air Conditioner. The transmission gives me trouble now and then, but ive never had a severe problem. I never plan to get rid of this van.
roomy and comfy for family
when it starts to break down, sell
we bought this van used with 101000. Ran really well for about 30,000 more. Large interior. Seats come out so great for hauling stuff. Started having problems with the serpentine/fan belt. It has come off at least 8 times in the last 6 months alone. belt also squeals A LOT between times. heater fan starting to make very loud noises. Mechanic has torn it down to find out WHY it squeals and keeps losing its belt. Can't find out.
