Positive Review
I've had the one Im reviewing for 1 year and besides normal maintenance and repairs, it's been a great car. The car has been dependable and gets my family anywhere. I've had three of them and they've all done well. I even sold one to a family member who still drives it today. Handling is secure. The ride can be jittery. Gas mileage is so-so. Power is sufficient as long as you don't get the base 2.0L engine with the automatic. You can usually pick up a low mileage model fairly cheap. It reminds me of my 1990 Accord I had before. Spirited performance, reliable, cheap to repair (for the D.I.Y.), and large interior.I would recommend this car to people who need a nice daily driver or for a teenager learning how to drive.
Critical Review
We've had this car for 4 years. It had 40K miles on it when we bought it in 2003 (it's now 2007 and has 95K on it). There had been 2 owners before us, both close family friends and it came with a complete maintance history. It's our only car and I'm the only driver. We've had regualr maintance done on it (oil changes, etc) and any time there was a sound or noise, we'd take it in right away. Last year, we poured over $1000 into the car for not only regular things, but other things not so regular...$400 of that being a water pump change. We've had brake problems several times a year and even our mechanic can't understand what keeps happening with this car. Last December, we had an oil leak and rushed it in. After fixing it, our mechanic told us, if it ever happened again, to by-pass him and go straight to the dealer because it's something that should not be happening in the car. We had the car in for brake problems (again) last month adn our mechanic told us he'd be surprised if this car made it through the summer (it's surrently July). My husband and I are done with Chrysler. This car was cheaply put together and poorly made. My parents have the Dodge version of this car, 1 yr younger than ours and they've had similar problems, but not to the extent that we have had. I will never buy another Chrysler vehicle. Because of Chysler, my next vehicle will be a Honda or Toyota.

Good milage for age, smooth ride, toll change
Older, basic console, uncommon parts
Got the car as my first car over 2 years ago. Very good, reliable car, only problems I've had were some minor electrical and starter issues, but that just comes with it's age. One of Plymouth'svlast good cars.
Very dependible
Not real powerful but it is a 4 banger.
I bought this car from a guy that bought it brand new back in 1997. I bought it for my daughters first car. The car needed some TLC and a little work. Well after putting about 2000 into it, its almost like new again. I replaced computer, hub bearing assembly, end links sway, struts, brakes. Most of what I had replaced was just parts that worn out after 20 years. Car runs and drives great. Its a solid little car. My daughter bought a newer car so I use it as a beater. I also own a 2015 Chevy SS and the difference in HP is very noticeable. IMO Plymouth built the best cars, way better then any Chrysler/Dodge product. Im glad that I decided to just fix everything on it. This little car has not left me stranded and is very reliable. I will more than likely keep this car until it dies. Great gas mileage, AC & heat are wonderful. The interior is like new. If you decide to buy one, just fix everything on it. Beats a car payment anyday. Great little car.
Great handling, visibility, reliable, design
2.0 is underpowered
Got my Breeze over 20 years ago. It has been a solid, dependable vehicle. Other than routine maintenance and the occasional repairs, it has been reasonably trouble free during the first 16 years of ownership. Repairs and recalls done under warranty: Head gasket (warranty), AC condenser (warranty), serpentine belt (warranty), inner tie rods (warranty) and first cat converter after 7 years. Still passes smog check after replacing the second cat converter on year 14 of ownership. Year 16 to 20 is where the major repairs came in, and that's pretty impressive. It just will not die. Nowadays, it consumes 1 quart of oil between oil changes. Chrysler said that it's normal. Looking forward to the next 6 years of ownership.
Fun to drive, great mileage, reliable
I bought my 2000 Plymouth Breeze on October 9, 2004 with approximately 52,000 miles, and it's still going strong-123,000 miles later. I used to drive it 400 miles a week for a job, I thus had to drive 55 on the L.A. freeways most of the time, as gas hit as high as $5.00 a gallon in L.A. in those days. I'll let you in on a little secret. You CAN get OVER 500 miles on a single tank in this car-I've done it three times. The Plymouth Breeze is the best car I've ever owned. It's roomy, reliable, and has the best turning radius of any car I've ever owned. You can make U-turns where MOST cars its size have to make three-pointers. Am I selling this car? NO WAY! They don't make Plymouths anymore, so I might actually be INTERRED in it!
Fantastic gas mileage, tough engine, low price
Old sensors, unreliable overdrive
I bought it at 19 for $500, it had 135,017 miles on it. I had no money at the time and couldn't afford to fix any of the problems it had, I drove it on 3 cylinders for 6 months until I could finally afford to do repairs. Once that was solved (needed a tune up) the car ran great and averaged 33 MPG (2.0L SOHC engine, same as the one used in the Dodge Neon) I did have issues with old sensors needing to be replaced, the overdrive didn't work (still shifted fine on gears 1-4) and the car would need a quart of oil every month, but I could easily count on it to make the 50 mile round trip to work everyday for 3 years. Over that 3 years, I put $3,000 in new parts and service to make it work, and I drove the car 36,500 miles before I finally retired the car (engine was still running). So that translates to ownership costs (not counting oil, tires, battery or coolant which every car goes through) of less than $1 for every 10 miles of driving. Very reliable, in fact, I wish I could find another one.
great on gas, great heater & airconditioner
interior & exterior need good cleaning &polishing
Think it still has alot of miles left in it. Definitely would need tires and alignment with a good tune up and you would have a nice little car. Interior only needs a good detailing and would look almost new inside.
