Mercedes-Benz vehicles over the past few years have been recalled over airbags either not deploying or doing so unintentionally, inadequate headlight adjustments, plus poor wiring in the fuel system and power steering malfunctions. The recalls affect a wide range of vehicles, including CLA, E-Class, and S-Class cars as well as GLA crossovers.
Mercedes-Benz recalled 2,112 2017 CLA250, CLA 250 4Matic, E400 Coupe, E400 4Matic Couple, E550 Coupe, E400 Cabriolet, E550 Cabriolet, E300, E300 4Matic, E400 Wagon, GLA 250 and GLA250 4Matic vehicles in 2017 over the front passenger pelvis airbag not inflating on impact. The airbag not deploying could increase the risk of injury for passengers.
Some of the sportier Mercedes-Benz vehicles were recalled over low beam headlights that were not adjusted properly. Included in the recall were just under 1,000 2016-2017 S550 Coupe 4Matic, S63 AMG Coupe 4Matic, S65 AMG Coupe, and S63 AMG Convertible 4Matic vehicles. The completion rate as of April 2018 was 92.5 percent according to the NHTSA.
In 2016 Mercedes-Benz recalled 6,858 2017 E300 Sedan and E300 Sedan 4Matic vehicles over concerns with the fuel system. Damage to the fuel pump, pressure sensor, or fuel gauge could occur resulting in a possible engine stall. The fix is modifying the wiring harness that leads to the fuel system. As of April 2018, the completion rate of the recall was 97.1 percent.
Other recalls for the 2017 E-Class include power steering malfunctions, inadvertent airbag deployment on the driver’s side, and incorrect headlight adjustments. These recalls started back in 2017, and have continued into as recently as April 2018.
