Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota, has participated in significant recalls over the past several years, including vehicles recalled for concerns over Takata airbag inflators and other manufacturing or safety issues.
The 2007-2012 Lexus ES350, 2010-2017 Lexus GX460, 2006-2010 and 2013 Lexus IS250/350, 2010-2015 Lexus IS250C/350C, 2008-2014 Lexus IS F, 2012 Lexus LFA, and 2002-2010 Lexus SC430 models were recalled for an inflator rupture that may result in metal fragments striking vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death. Toyota expanded the recall further in January 2018. While the company has divided affected vehicles into the regions they were originally registered in, we recommend consulting NHTSA for up-to-date information based on Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN). Remedy completion data as of April 2018 is approximately 39 percent.
In June 2018, Lexus announced that it was recalling around 115,000 model year 2006-2013 IS 350, model year 2010-2014 IS 350C and model year 2007-2011 GS 350 and GS 450h vehicles for fuel pulsation dampers that can harden and crack over time, causing fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of fire. Owners will receive recall notices beginning in August 2018.
Lexus has recalled more than 9,900 model year 2016-2018 Lexus GS F, and 2018 LC 500 and 2015-2018 Lexus RCF vehicles equipped with the 5.0-liter V-8 engine because specific operating conditions may result in damage to one of the high-pressure fuel pumps, which could leak fuel and cause a fire. No completion rate data is available.
About 40,700 model year 2015-2016 Lexus RX350 SUVs, RX450h, NX200T, NX Turbo and NX300h SUVs have been recalled for possible faulty airbag sensors that may cause the airbags not open. Completion rate as of April 2018 was 0.2 percent
In November 2015, Lexus recalled 30,812 ES350 and ES350h sedans from model years 2013-2015 that are equipped with a Pre-Collision System (PCS) as optional equipment. In those vehicles, the PCS may unexpectedly activate and apply the brakes when the radar detects a steel joint or plate in the roadway as an object/obstacle. Completion rate as of January 2018 is approximately 84 percent.
