Positive Review
I have owned 3 of these autos 2 Trofeo's & one regular toro..I drive hard & fast on Tn back roads & this car keeps up with me & out handles even the Camaro I owned! I owned a 90 & 92 Trofeo & I like the 90' the best that Teves brake unit when working good will out stop any car on the road with that ABS system...Replace all struts with monroe sensa trac & put either wider tires on the stock rims or put some 18"s on it with at least a 225 or higher rating even on stock 16's I run 225/50/16 & let me tell you its like being on rails!! This car is so much more advanced then any other auto on the road with its ecm & bcm & even at 120+mph will grip the road oh yeah add either a cold air intake or also add a turbo & set it up like a grand national & it will be a 9 something second car...trust me!! I took all the oldsmobile symbols off except the trofeo & the toro's symbols & people are always asking me what is it & or I hear I never heard of it & never seen one! Oh yeah get some cross drilled vented disc rotors & put them all around on since it has all rotors...This car is a rice burner killer!!...lol ..STOCK!! oh yeah I got 324k mile on my 92 while my 90 has 181k both original engines with rebuil tranny's for both...power up grade I had too..lol
Critical Review
Bought the car several years ago. Its a 92 Trofeo with the VIC. It only has about 89000km or 55000miles on it. Everything but the CD player works. Nice car to drive. Handles surprisingly well, with average acceleration and decent gas mileage. When people see the VIC they simply can't believe that a car so old would have a touch screen in it. Stereo /radio is also very good with better than average sound from its speaker system. The front seats are amazing, with comfort galour. My Trofeo in painted that rich dark navy blue with a blue interior. No dents, a few minor scuffs and the interior is flawless. I have unfortunately had the ECM go on it. The repair was overly expensive ($1100 including high end spark plugs). Other than that most repairs have been somewhat routine and done entirely by me. If you can find one get it and hang on to it.

Rides smoothly, loaded with features
Electrical system can get a little screwy
I just got done cold starting my 92 white trofeo after it had been sitting in a garage for over a year. This thing was passed down to me and has seen more abuse than I care for :( But even when it was 20 degree's out, this thing took a matter of I would literally say 2 seconds to fire up. This car has many advanced features (for it's time anyway) and most of them are still working relentlessly. This truly is a rare, American built car.
If you've never had one, i suggest you find one AND PURCHASE IT BECAUSE it stills rides better than most cars on the market today. i guarantee it!
GREATEST CAR EVER MADE
Wife's car bought Oct,1990 with 10850 miles. Great riding car, great mileage (20 around town, 25 on trip) according to internal cpr info. Driven mostly on occasional trips: now driven regularly for short trips during last 7 years.
We've owned three Trefeo's thus far. All with the VIC touchscreen and the telephone system. These cars are wonderful to drive. Nice and tight. The 3.8 V6 is bullet proof, and the seats are the most comfortable I've seen. The only weak link is the transmission. I've had two to fail on me, although they both had well over 100,000 miles, the fluid and filters were replaced at regular intervals. I've always gone up to the next size tire P225/60R16. car seems to handle and ride better, even though the ride is excellent. Car averages 20 mpg in the city, 26 on the road. The best thing is the sound of the exhaust system! Always gets thumbs up!
