Positive Review

"Best car I've ever owned and I'm 65 years old."

Very comfortable, smooth riding. No problems mechanically in 12 years. Still looks like new (no old car look).

VS

Critical Review

"Decent GM Sedan"

Pluses: Best looking version of this GM platform, good acceleration, comfortable ride, leather interior has held up well, decent handling under normal driving Minuses: Gas mileage is not great- 18mpg average, 3 of 4 power window regulators have went out, excessive wind noise in the cabin at 70mph and higher, engine could use a little more low end torque

One of the best cars i have
Pros

Reliable, low cost to own. Comfortable

Cons

Minor things. GM canned Oldsmobile

Was originally my parents car, purchased brand new. Uber reliable, still runs like new. Nice car overall. Never left me stranded. Very little went wrong with this vehicle. Had to put crank sensors on, minor valve cover leak and a few power window regulators. Poor ignition cylinder lock. GM recalled which, I ended up replacing at my expense. This car was well maintained including regular oil changes and coolant flushes.

Twice as nice
Pros

Efficient stylish comfortable

Cons

Low to the ground.

This is my second Intrigue, my 1st was a great car, a 2000, that I put on about 90k miles in 9 yrs. She was comfortable, quick, and efficient @ always 28 mpg. She was hit six times on the passenger side. The last time I took the insurance cash and sold her to friend who added another 30k miles. So recently while looking for a car for my kid, I found an almost identical '01 from the south, it was like a new birth. Heated leather, roof, it's loaded as goes just like my previous '00. One of the safest cars of the era, handles great, powerful brakes, great highway hauler with tons of room for 6 foot+ kid.

I didn't rate value as I'm not informed on that ye
Pros

It's such a smooooooth ride! :)

Cons

Any person would be real satisfied with it.

My 2001 Intrigue has only just under 87,000 miles on it. I tried clicking on the 142,000 the the website labeled it with but was unable to adjust it to be corrected. I am that little old lady that just used it to putz around shopping mostly. I've taken about a half dozen road trips of no more than 200 miles each way in the 10 years I've owned it. It is so comfortable. The right rear bumper did suffer a parking lot bump. That's its only exterior issue.

Very unreliable
Cons

Brake issues, electrical problems, burns oil

Bought this car 2 years ago and have had tons of issues since. The window motor broke within the first month of me having it. The breaks continuously get fixed just to need to be fixed again within a month. It burns oil like crazy. The camshaft went out, 2 weeks later my a/c stopped working. I got that fixed just for the water pump to break and then right after that my alternator went bad twice in two weeks. I have to refill the antifreeze every week. There’s leaks all under the hood that no mechanic seems to be able to fix, the engine rattles and moves uncontrollably when the car is turned on. There are constant electrical problems. My turn signals work whenever they want to, and stop working more often than not. The heated front seats make you feel like you’re on fire. Every mechanic I’ve been to says I should just get a new car. I’ve put well over $2100 of repairs into this car in less than a year.

Fun Car To Drive, Reliable
Pros

Decent looks, Reliable, Fun to drive

Cons

Terrible gas mileage, bad cupholders, ignition

I have had the car for a little over a year and have had no new issues. The only major issue with the car is a broken A/C system that is not worth replacing. Since I have had the car, I have had no new issues (the A/C did not work when I got it). The car is fun to drive, looks decent, and is mostly reliable. The car gets terrible gas mileage. There is only 1 cup holder in the front and it does not hold drinks well. There was a recall on the ignition, but i have not gotten it replaced yet and had no issues with it.
