Positive Review
My Bravada is a total driving experience. It is excellent in winter, surpassing "winter" vehicles with chains and all. WE were in an accident where a woman hit us at 50mph and no one was hurt!!! Repaired the Bravada and it still runs and rides like a dream. Gas mileage in it is better than most cars on the road. Love my Bravada!! Hoping to get 300,000 miles out of it. Cheaper to repair than to buy new and parts are reasonable! So sad they stopped manufacturing this vehicle as there is no other that can compare!
Critical Review
Overall I find my Oldsmobile, Bravada to be great on some aspects, and quite poor in other areas. On the "Plus-Side" I live in the north, and I will say that this SUV is great in the snow, with the 4x4, and presumed weight of the automobile. Also, I enjoy having some of the luxuries you'd find in a luxury automobile such as my Cadillac DeVille. I'm able to enjoy heated leather seats in the Bravada, I have a towing Package which is nice, power everything, and for the most part comfortable to travel in, etc... However; I've noticed as the SUV is getting older, it sure seems to be making more noices, and is just a bit louder on the road now compared to when I first purchased this Bravada. Also, that new "SmartTrak" they're using, has broken twice since I've had it. I'd much prefer being able to engage the 4x4 manually, rather than relying on a computer to do this. One more thing...I do realize it is an SUV, but I've got to say, the gas mileage is just awful!! It seems I've got to fill the gas tank all the time. In actuallity I honestly get better gas mileage in my Cadillac than I do the Bravada!! Hope this helps...!! Frank

comfort, safety, best driving car, space
gas mileage could be better
I bought my 1st 2000 Bravada in 2000 and drove it all over, especially loved it in the 2feet of snow in Olympia WA...where I picked up fellow workers to get to work. So sad when my gas tank was sabotaged and killed my Bravada, so I waited until I found another red one and bought it. It was not well taken care of, but I put the extra money into it because I loved this vehicle. It is comfortable, easy to drive goes like a snowplow in 2 feet of snow and can haul a lot of stuff in the back! I am looking for one for my grandson. It drives like a dream and I have had a few different cars as my husband did body work on cars...nothing compares and I have had over 15 different cars! Just would love a bit more miles per gallon! But, I would not trade it for any other car!
Great seats, power options, roomy, engine is great
Gas mileage poor (I dont drive long distances)
Purchased in 2005 with less than 50K miles. I have driven in blizzards, serious rain, up and down mountains, and now in the flats of SE Louisiana. She is over 20 years old and the problems have been old age and a few cosmetic mishaps. Tires have to be replaced every 5 years, A/C compressor times 1, fuel system coming up. I am rather short and have back issues. This vehicles works. The length is good, height good, love being up high enough to see past traffic, great visibility. Pretty luxurious. The leather and plastic have held up very well. Do not think they make them anymore so hard to recommend it. I would rather paint it than sell it!
2001 Olds Bravada. With the Towing it allows you many options with this small SUV that others do not. Ride is great and the seat are really nice to sit in for a smaller SUV. Back seats fold down and that gives you a good sized cargo bay. This is my wifes Vehicle and it get around very well with it. It handles well in Ice and snow. Great for a older vehicle. This is a good upgrade above a Blazer of the same type.
I'd buy another one if they still made them!
Sounds like a truck engine
This Bravada is very practical for hauling, towing, driving in snow, and yet is luxurious inside with leather and electric seats, etc. A hard plastic bed liner slides out easily, even when loaded with heavy cargo. It gives great access to groceries and other items throughout the cargo space. The second row seats fold down individually to lengthen part or all of the cargo area for skis, plywood sheets, etc. It is a luxury kind of car on a truck chassis. Best of both worlds.
100% reliable in any New England weather!!
Spare tire mounted under vehicle.
Bought this 1998 Bravada new. Built in Sept., 1997. OE brakes lasted 104,600 miles before changing rotors and pads. First tuneup at 105,000. No rust whatsoever. With new Michelin Defender tires mounted on alloy wheels, getting 19-21 mpg. Driver's seat, and front passenger leather seat, required front and outer panel replacements due to wear. New Michelin rubber floor mats. Replaced OE radio with a Pioneer equipped with Bluetooth; otherwise, all OE. Great vehicle. Handles any type of weather. Towed a buddy's Honda Civic 20 miles to Honda dealership and the Bravada barely acknowledged anything was back there. Back seats flatten for max cargo area. Rarely have back seats up in seating position. Pet dogs have that area to relax in wherever we go. Planning to keep this vehicle as long as possible. 100% reliable!!
GREAT LOOKS. GREAT RIDE. WELL BUILT & COMFORTABLE.
NONE
ONE OF THE VERY BEST RIDING SUV'S ON THE MARKET.
s-10 frame, compact. great shape
not for families that need alot of room.
I purchased this suv 4 yrs. ago and have had great luck with it. I bought it to tow fishing boat and it worked out great. body is in great shape, no rust, motor is adequate for towing although i don't live in hill country. Still no leaks or oil consumption with 130k. will pass it on to my son who travels to northern mn in winter. he loves it!
Completely reliable vehicle. Not good gas mileage as it has aged. I have had to put in a new transmission, driver power seat, fuel pump and front passenger side window power motor in the last year and a half but, I intend to fix what it needs to keep up this uniquely reliable vehicle.
